Hailey is a teen mom with a three month old baby. Parent Life Coordinator Bebhinn Horrigan has been walking with Hailey since early in her pregnancy. Having been let down a lot in the past, Hailey initially had a hard time opening up but Bebhinn has been around for many milestones, appointments, and major events for nearly a year. She even visited Hailey in the hospital when her baby was born.
Hailey does not have much, if any, support from her own family and is often on her own to navigate major decisions and problems. She recently called Bebhinn from the Emergency Room. Something was wrong with the baby.
“Can you just come and sit here with me?” Hailey asked. Of course, Bebhinn went. And she stayed for five hours, late into the night. There wasn’t anything Bebhinn could do to help medically, but she wouldn’t let Hailey go through this alone.
Hailey and her baby are fine and healthy now. And she knows when life gets dark and scary, someone is there to hold her hand.
