Mentoring is a Game Changer

story

I first heard about YFC’s City Life center two years ago after City Life leaders came to my high school. I started going to their Open Gym and “Club Cypher” on Tuesdays, which includes all kinds of food, fun, basketball, volleyball, soccer…and a message. Honestly my original intentions were to come to meet girls. But one night the panel of adults shared bits of their stories and challenges that God helped them overcome which really resonated with me because I struggled with some of those things too. I really connected with the City Life leaders, and especially Mr. Eli and his story. He became my accountability partner. Fast forward to this past school year… I was able to stay connected to Eli who really challenged me and my walk with Christ. I wasn’t ready to make that decision and didn’t think I deserved it.

But when I went to YFC’s STEAM* Camp in our city, the speaker talked about not just forgiving others, but also forgiving myself. Once that hit my heart, I knew it was time to stop playing and give my life to Christ, so I made the decision to say yes. I feel like a new man!

I am thankful for the leaders of City Life for believing in me and continuing to pour into me and sharing with me what a life with Christ can be like.  SJ
