Meeting Siblings Behind Bars

story

There is something deeply meaningful about knowing you are a part of a family, especially a family that is bound by love, grace, and the shared hope of Jesus. Every day we get the chance to extend the hope and belonging that comes with putting your trust in Jesus with young people across our nation.

This story began several years ago with two brothers, Adrian and Carlos.

Few moments are as sobering as meeting siblings behind bars.

Though in separate facilities and facing the possibility of long sentences in prison, each time you met with either brother, their first question was,

“Have you seen my brother? Is he okay?”

Their family bond was unshakeable, and they still held on to the hope of their shared dream, to one day open a business together.

We had the privilege to walk with these two young men, building trust, supporting their family, advocating in court and praying constantly. As committed as we were to serving them, they were equally committed to growing in faith and self-improvement. They both made the decision to follow Jesus, started attending Public Readings of Scripture, and enrolled in our entrepreneurship programs.

Adrian was released first and stayed committed to his path. After two long years, we witnessed a miracle, Carlos was released too! Today, both Adrian and Carlos continue to follow Jesus, are enrolled in trade school together, and working towards the future they only dreamed of behind bars!

Family never gives up, especially the extended Family of God.

As this next generation of young people grows to maturity, we are passionate about equipping them to not only own and live their faith, but to share it with others. As we look to the future, we are excited for what could be:

A generation of young people who once seemed lost, now leading the way in faith, compassion, and courage. A generation wholly devoted to Christ.

That’s the vision that keeps us energized and dreaming big.

Will you dream big with us to reach the next generation?
