From “feisty troublemaker” to courageous young leader.
We stick with kids through their faith journey, even if it takes 3-4 years…
Although the pandemic was extremely difficult for students and shut down many school-based Campus Life clubs, we are seeing fruit years later from what God planted during those months. With campuses closed in California for over a year, the staff at YFC Central Valley got creative by hosting weekly BBQs for students in local parks. Jadasa came the first week and never stopped until school reopened. Following her seventh-grade year, all the school admins knew her by name, but not because of having great grades! Jadasa was a feisty troublemaker. But she also loved coming to Campus Life in the park.
Without yet knowing much about Jesus, she offered to be the president of the club when it restarted as school resumed. During her eighth-grade year, Jadasa kept inviting friends while she began to learn about Jesus’ love. She chose to not only believe in Christ that year but also allow God to begin healing her brokenness with the help of long talks with her Campus Life leader. The following year we were able to see her raise arms high in worship during a local YFC camp. And the year after that, Jadasa, now a sophomore in high school, helped lead that same camp and shared the story of how her new faith has grown.
P.S. This spring we received the following text from Jadasa. “I just want to let you know that yesterday I decided to show my love and faith for Jesus publicly. I got BAPTIZED and am so happy I did!! I feel like this means I am a new person who truly wants to try and follow the path God has for me. Having the right people (from Campus Life and church) made me want to do it since I knew they would be there for me!”
