YFC’s Purpose

Thousands of people around the world know that Youth For Christ (YFC) is one of the foremost leaders in youth missional ministry. Our mission is to reach young people everywhere, work together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus.

YFC Camp is providing an excellent experience through Jesus Christ. One specific camp has forever changed the life of every person attending camp. They would be driven to alter the lives of those around them for Christ. YFC Camp season is ending. With that said, YFC leaders have been amazed at how God has worked in the lives of the young people.  However, not just anyone, but specifically those who attended.

Saved from the Storm

We recently held Northbay Camp which is located near Baltimore, Maryland. YFC Chief Ministry Strategist Seth Baker, who was in attendance at camp, witnessed the power of God through some scary circumstances.

Baker said, “A massive thunderstorm blew through camp midway through the week. As we scrambled to get every kid and leader indoors and under cover, the wind picked up and the lightning strikes got closer and louder. We watched as trash cans and tree branches blew past the windows and torrential rain came down in sheets. The sky was an eerie green when the storm finally passed. We then emerged to find many trees snapped in half and some of the camp’s decks smashed to splinters.

“But God had everything completely under control. As we went from cabin to cabin, every camper, volunteer, and leader was accounted for and safe. God protected this camp for His own eternal reasons.”

Baker continued, “Even though the power was out, Camp was going strong. Our verse for that day at camp was 2 Corinthians 6:2— ‘Behold, now is the accepted time. Today is the day of salvation.’ The God who physically saved us through the storm spiritually saved souls that very same day. That night, we presented kids with a chance to say yes to Jesus. Our speaker explained the Good News of the Gospel and invited them to say ‘YES’ out loud to their Creator — and many of the kids responded to the Holy Spirit that night!

“Even while the electrical power was out, Power was surging — a Power greater than a storm flowed through Camp and changed the lives of so many that day.”
