Position Summary

Essential Functions

The RP Assistant Director will assist in executing Restorative Practices goals and objectives within Modesto City Schools, including coaching, training, and championing its models and techniques.

 

Personal & Spiritual Development

·      All YFC employees are expected to:

·      Practice discipline of abiding in Christ according to John 15

·      Reading leadership, spiritual growth, personal development books, etc.

·      Regularly seeking God through prayer & Scripture reading

·      Ensure ministry sites & programming model YFC mission, standards, etc.

·      Continue to learn and grow in various restorative practices and justice trainings and information

Team Participation

·      Weekly devotionals and prayer times on Mondays from 9:30-10am, monthly all-team meetings 9:30-11:00am or as directed

·      Attendance in regular RP Team meetings, and managing meeting schedules and agendas, including weekly collaboration or team meetings, collaboration with RP contractor, and yearly planning meetings.

Administrative Duties

·      Document management on team SharePoint site, utilizing Excel, Word, and PDF documents. Includes uploading and editing documents and file management.

Data management and tracking, including, but not limited to school site contacts, contract hours, training hours, and participants

·      Communication with school district staff for a variety of topics, including coordinating training requests or meetings, room scheduling, and providing regular data updates.

·      Management of RP Team general email account.

·      Conduct yearly Fall Update Meetings with all school sites to address consultation and training needs, identify primary RP contacts, and explore needs for student and staff support.

·      Providing scheduling support and recommendations for school sites on consultation trainings, as well as managing all RP consultant calendars and scheduling trainings on requested or available consultant calendars.

·      Assist with preparation work for trainings including, but not limited to sending or printing handouts, scripts, and PowerPoint presentations to school sites and consultants, packing supplies for day-long trainings, and transportation of supplies.

·      Research and locate resources to improve trainings and help site staff

Consultations, Trainings, Site Visits

·      Review, and help facilitate day-long trainings (RP101 & RP201), as well as multiple workshops to develop knowledge of material.

·      Participate and train portions of contracted trainings for both school sites and district staff, providing an overview of Restorative Practices, and restorative approaches to trauma-informed educational practices.

·      Conduct multiple 45-60 minute workshops throughout the school year at multiple school sites on topics including, but not limited to managing student behavior, techniques for restorative discipline, communication and de-escalation techniques, restorative conflict resolution, restorative parenting, and trauma-informed practices.

·      Check in with school site staff to offer suggestions, support, encouragement

·      Work with Director and Coordinator to ensure goals and objectives of Modesto City Schools contract are being met

·      Assist with the Community Schools efforts at Johansen and Elliott

Community Collaborations

·      Work with YFC ministries and FCC counselors to find ways to expand and deepen services at Restorative Practices sites

·      Assist with other ministries as needed to help bridge resources and supports

·      Network and partner with other like-minded agencies to provide resources and referrals as needed

·      Champion and promote restorative practices including its techniques

Spiritual Responsibilities

 

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

Additionally, YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA. As such, the following additional responsibilities of a spiritual nature will apply to this position:

·      Perform sacramental functions such as the taking of communion and leading times of corporate prayer, confession and praise.

Perform and lead religious ceremonies such as weddings, baptism and funerals when called upon by staff and other members of the YFC community.

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

Degree required: Bachelor’s preferred

Minimum years in similar role: 2-3 preferred

Fundraising Responsibilities

 

All YFC employees will be given the opportunity to be involved in the Stewardship functions of YFC. These opportunities may include fundraising events, communicating and meeting with circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, and other opportunities as provided.

All YFC staff will live by the following fundraising mantra, with joy and enthusiasm: Love the person. Cast the vision. Communicate the needs.

Part-time basic and part-time plus positions will be included in these opportunities, but will receive direction from their department director or Executive Director regarding any required duties. There are greater expectations from full-time employees.
