Ministry Status: Associate Minister of the Gospel

Job Description and Key Areas of Responsibility

The Campus Life Director (CLD) is responsible for giving leadership to and fulfilling the Youth for Christ (YFC) vision and mission in the assigned ministry region. This includes leadership to the region’s community support team, to volunteers of the region, to fund and community development activities, and to the ministry outreach guided by the 5 Essentials and RMA’s. The CLD is accountable to the Executive Director (ExD).

Leadership Qualifications and Requirements

The CLD must be credentialed by YFC/USA, or be in the process of gaining credentials and meet YFC’s initial and continuing training requirements. The CLD is also a professional position that requires the following skills in order to fulfill the vision and mission of YFC:

1.    Exemplary Christian life and spiritual leadership as a follower of Jesus

2.    Ability to build and maintain healthy relationships with people

3.    Competent in time management, planning, problem solving, and conflict resolution

4.    Capability of doing discipleship evangelism ministry within the context of relationships, shared activities, and large and small groups

5.    Ability to rally and lead people in the mission of YFC and raise the necessary funds to support the region

6.    Ability to work with and serve people from various Christian traditions

7.    Willingness and ability to build and manage multiple teams of people

Spiritual Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of YFC is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate, and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that the CLD abide by YFC’s Statement of Faith and Standards of Conduct. In addition, the following responsibilities of a spiritual nature will apply to your position within our organization:

·       Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.

·       Participate in and occasionally lead regular times of prayer, devotion, and worship with other ministry team members.

·       Participate in and occasionally lead times of study from the Holy Bible at YFC team meetings, conferences, camps, trips, and events.

Position Requirements

Position Responsibilities

Community Support Team Building: The CLD is expected to work in partnership with the Support Team in the development of ministry, community, and financial support within the region, and shall work to build a strong team.

Volunteer Development: The CLD shall continually seek to build ministry in the region through the body of Christ. Realizing that no one person can minister to all the youth of an assigned region, the CLD shall place high priority on finding volunteers to work together as a team to provide ministry as needed.

Ministry Effectiveness: The CLD shall see that the gospel message is effectively presented at every possible opportunity. All our activities, events, concerts, trips, clubs, etc., shall be planned and executed with the primary goal of confronting youth with the life changing message of the gospel.

Fundraising: The CLD shall see it as his/her responsibility to maintain and continually develop the funding base for this region.

·       The CLD will need to develop and maintain many adult relationships throughout the assigned region and plan to spend time with adults who have interests in the YFC mission and purpose. Seeking direct financial support from adults is the highest priority in building a local funding base. Training is always available to help the CLD become effective fundraisers.

Community Relations: The CLD shall serve as an advocate for youth evangelism in the community, not only by speaking on behalf of YFC, but in supporting all efforts to mobilize the Christian community to reach lost youth. The CLD shall see that YFC and its mission have visibility in the community, and that YFC works in a cooperative manner with churches, other youth evangelism organizations, and community/civic groups.

Administration: The CLD is expected to handle as much of the region’s administrative and organizational work as possible. This includes but is not limited to management of: volunteer training, ministry events, fundraising events, and community relations events.

Personal Growth: It is our desire that you excel – in your ministry and personally – and the key is to commit your heart to love God and seek Him first, above anything. CLD’s will be expected to spend daily time in prayer and Bible study, actively participate in a home church (you are strongly encouraged to attend church within your ministry area), and maintain social relationships that will not hinder spiritual growth.

These are the key areas of responsibility expected to be covered by the CLD. The CLD must be adequately self-motivated to work at these key areas with minimal supervision and take the initiative to seek results in his/her region. The CLD will also be expected to assist in chapter-wide ministry trips/events, fundraising events, and perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

Direct ministry with students will be prioritized and summer and school year schedules will be set in consultation with the ExD. Total hours worked and allocation of hours may vary from week to week, flexibility required the weeks of trips and events.

Benefits

Salary, mileage and phone reimbursement.
