Position Summary

GOAL:  To advance the mission of Central Ohio Youth for Christ, including affiliates and subsidiaries, by maintaining accurate financial records, assist with financial reporting, and support the Finance Department in daily operations and month-end close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP.

KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Responsible for specific ongoing accounting functions
  • Assist Director with higher level Finance reporting and audits
  • Collaborate with other departments for financial and organizational compliance

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Ongoing Accounting Functions

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Reconcile credit card statements, general ledger, intercompany accounts and sub-ledgers 
  • Support receivable functions

Assist Director with higher level Finance reporting and audits

  • Participate in internal audits and provide support for external audits
  • Analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and recommend process improvements
  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Support organizational projects with accounting related tasks, as needed

Collaborate with other departments for organizational and financial compliance

  • Collaborate with the Development Team and Gracehaven with Grant reporting
  • Maintain organized financial documentation and support compliance efforts
  • Maintain the company’s Expense Reporting module and be the main point of contact for questions/concerns
  • Provide reports for different departments, as needed
  • Assist in our chapter wide fundraising efforts by inviting a minimum of 2 guests to our See the Story Tour (various times) and/or Be the Story annual luncheon campaigns.

Position Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Experience in a non-profit organization preferred
  • 2-5+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, databases and Google
  • Preferable intermediate experience:
    • QuickBooks desktop
    • Emburse Professional (Certify)
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
