Position Summary

PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to provide leadership that is focused on and dedicated to one YFC high school or middle school ministry site. The site leader will coach a team of adult ministry volunteers to develop personal relationships with lost teenagers that lead to life-changing encounters with Jesus, through which life-long followers of Christ are developed.

SCOPE: Primarily, the Ministry Site Leader will coach his or her adult leadership team to accomplish its mission through activities and relationships with teens. The ministry leader will also invest time learning and aligning with best ministry practices, and work with other YFC staff to mobilize new team members. He/she will participate in personal ministry with teens, but his/her priority will be mobilizing others rather than direct ministry personally.

REPORTS TO: supervised by the local Ministry Director, but ultimately reports to the Executive Director

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Learns how to lead effective ministry through regular supervision and online training sessions. (1 hour per week)
  2. Develops and empowers ministry and task volunteers through team meetings and individual interactions. (2 hours per week)
  3. Prepares club activities and communicates roles and responsibilities to team members. (2 hours per week)
  4. Collects and records accurate ministry records and work logs. (1⁄2 hour per week)
  5. Leads weekly club activities, maximizing the gifts and talents of ministry team members. (3 1/4 hours per week)
  6. Conducts ministry personally with teens, working alongside volunteers and leading by example. (1 hour per week)
  7. Participates in at least one off-site YFC ministry retreat or adventure trip. (1 per year)
  8. Attends at least one off-site YFC training retreat or conference. (1 per year)

Spiritual Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
  • Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression. YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

Position Requirements

KNOW-HOW: The Ministry Site Leader must first possess a vital relationship with Christ that is evidenced by prayer, strong character, and a passion to reach the lost. He/she must have strong leadership and communication abilities in order to lead a ministry team to reach lost teens. He/she must have a good understanding about teenagers and the culture in which they live.

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
