Position Summary

This position exists to serve as a City Life Site Director in Central Islip and Huntington Station, NY which will expand YFC's current reach into the community. The position requires spiritual and organizational leadership skills, the ability to work with, and through other people, and strong communication skills. The Site Director must embrace and build a team that embodies YFC’s Cultural Attributes: Christ-centered, enduring humility, relentless trust, courageous faithfulness, joyful camaraderie, and kingdom inspired diversity. The Site Director will seek to implement relational ministry actions to develop Authentic Christ-Sharing Relationships with young people within the context of YFC's City Life ministry model.

 

Lead an extensive programing model in the Central Islip and Huntington communities of clubs, events, camp, small groups, holistic services, mentoring and leadership development:

 

Ministry Team Development:

  • Recruit, train, and maintain volunteer ministry leader team in accordance with the processes found in the Knowledge Base
  • Create a strong connection between local churches, schools, community stakeholders, and the ministry site
  • Provide training materials and ministry site standards for ministry leaders
  • Develop healthy 3 Story teams for each ministry site
  • Establish necessary support and guidelines to ensure healthy and growing ministry at all sites
  • Be an advocate in the community for young people
  • Report progress and ministry updates to YFC



Relational Ministry Action Development:

  • The Site Director will be responsible for managing, facilitating and serving in the Relational Ministry Actions (RMAs)
  • Lead the 3 Story Team at their site in accomplishing the standards outlined in the RMAs found in the Knowledge Base
  • Establish and develop programming materials
  • Train and evaluate ministry site leaders in the implementation of curriculum materials

 

Spiritual Responsibilities:

 

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

 

As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
  •  Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression. 
  • Additionally, YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA. 

 

Fundraising Responsibilities:

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts. 

 

Budget Responsibilities:

Must be able to manage the budget of the City Life Sites.

Credentials Required & Preferred Education:

Four-year college diploma and some practical Youth Ministry Experience preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate orally with students, volunteers, church leaders, vendors, management, and other co-workers is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.  Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information, and to prepare or inspect documents.

 

Heavy lifting of equipment used to run the City Life program should be  expected.  Good manual dexterity required for the use of computers, mobile devices, and other productivity technologies.

 

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel to National and Regional YFC Conferences, YFC Institute and other training programs as necessary.
