Are you interested in youth ministry but want a non-traditional internship experience? Are you passionate about showing lost teens the hope of Christ and also deepening your own
relationship with Jesus?
West Michigan Youth for Christ is an established outreach-focused para-church ministry that
steps into the world of teens, on their turf, in hopes of raising up a generation of lifelong
followers of Jesus.
We have internships and ministry opportunities in middle and high school settings, juvenile detention centers, urban neighborhoods, and ministries specifically for Deaf and hard-of-hearing teens and teen parents. Not only will you be placed in one of these sites that matches your specific area of passion, you will also be learning first-hand from the site director. We also have a best-in-class monthly internship training that is designed to help you learn alongside other ministry interns in a cohort setting. If this sounds like a good fit for you, we’d love for you to apply.
Essential Functions
The responsibilities of an intern range from week to week, but you will be able to experience
multiple facets of the youth ministry field. Some of the things you will participate in are:
● Meeting lost students in their world (schools, sporting events, detention centers, etc.)
● Facilitate small groups, plan and implement small group experiences, and provide
one-on-one mentoring opportunities for teens
● Planning club (weekly large group gathering for teens) and other large group
experiences
● Recruiting, training, and caring for volunteers
● Preparing and delivering a lesson at club or a similar large group setting
● Collaborating with other WMYFC staff and other like-minded partners in the community
● Participating in intern cohort gatherings
● Preparing for events and other administrative tasks

Followers of Jesus
Passionate about reaching out to lost and unchurched students
Coachable
Dependable and consistent
Self-starting
No prior ministry experience is required.
Fundraising Responsibilities
