Position Summary

This position serves as a key member of the chapter’s leadership team and is primarily responsible for assisting with the oversight and development of the chapter’s community-based ministry models. Responsibilities include direct oversight of ministry sites; shepherding and coaching ministry staff through ongoing leadership development; resourcing and equipping staff to implement effective ministry; identifying and developing future ministry sites; fostering community collaboration and partnerships; and supporting fund development efforts.

Essential Functions

Personal Health/Growth (5%)

  • Model abiding in your spiritual life
  • Ensure that prayer strategically permeates all values, areas, and actions of your daily ministry
  • Complete all training/credentialing requirements as assigned
  • Participate in the wider YFC movement for continued personal growth 
  • Invest in intentional professional development
  • Devote yourself to pray for lost teens

Ministry Health (15%)

  • Build a team culture defined by the Cultural Attributes™ and embodying the 5 Essentials™
  • Model empowerment of both authority and tasks among your team 
  • Oversee the Processes™, Standards™, and Best Practices™ as defined by YFC/USA™
  • Supervise site leaders in Juvenile Justice Ministry, City Life and Parent Life
  • Lead community-model retreats, and ministry communication to unify team and efforts 
  • Assess ministry sites and leader around stated annual goals 
  • Create systems and plans that coordinate healthy ministry work day to day
  • Keep the Senior Ministry Director, and Board aware of ministry health, progress, and challenges 
  • Develop a missional community with the staff that is reproducing 3Story™ communities within each ministry model

Ministry Growth (5%)

  • Assist in the development of long term vision for ministry in coordination with Senior Ministry Director, Executive Director, and Board 
  • Develop new potential ministry areas/possibilities 
  • Work with partners, churches and donors in new and existing areas 
  • Participate in the hiring process for all Community Ministry Site Directors

Leader Development (25%)

  • Build a culture of leader development within the chapter 
  • Invest in direct reports’ leadership development through one-on-ones
  • Oversee ministry staff through the YFC Credentialing/professional development
  • Oversee volunteer life cycle implementation 
  • Share in oversight of training ministry staff/volunteers
  • Assist in oversight of programs to raise up young leaders
  • Foster a rhythm of staff appreciation and celebration

Donor Development (15%)

  • Oversee the development plan in the appropriate communities 
  • Be involved in all team-oriented fundraising efforts 
  • Find, Win, Keep and Lift donors in your purview 
  • Work with the Executive Director and Development Team in pursuing significant donors
  • Advocate for Ministry Sites and Models through presentations
  • Ensure ministry donors receive excellent donor care and communication

Direct Ministry (25%)

  • Oversee and serve volunteers and students at Ember Recovery Center
  • Community networking to partner with ministry for youth who are parenting/pregnant or transition out of agencies
  • Develop and incorporate an aftercare strategy
  • Offer young people the chance to develop a relationship with one or more adults who become friends, role models and advocates for them
  • Build and lead teams of Christian adults who are committed to investing in the relational ministry process with lost teens.

Organizational and Administrative Duties (10%)

  • Maintain accurate and timely ministry records through the Youth section of the YFC Hub, including student engagement, ministry activity, and other required information.
  • Complete and submit monthly expense reports and ensure expenses are accurately documented and within approved budgets.
  • Monitor and track development activity and donor information through Bloomerang.
  • Review and approve hours, timecards, and expenses for direct reports in a timely manner.
  • Submit required reports, ministry updates, and administrative documentation by established deadlines.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings, supervisor check-ins, and required staff trainings and evaluations.
  • Participate in occasional fundraising events and other chapter-wide activities.

  • 3 or more years of direct ministry experience
  • Participate fully in the life of the staff, board and volunteers
  • Can effectively build and lead teams of people
  • Able to shepherd individual leaders
  • Skilled in problem solving

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
