Position Summary

The Marketing Lead ensures effective marketing for Youth For Christ USA. S/he is responsible for the total department effort in deploying digital-first strategies to reach intended audiences and enhance brand positioning. Effectiveness will primarily be measured through digital-first reach towards desired audiences, as well as acquisition of new financial partners, volunteers and staff. 

 

The successful candidate is a seasoned professional with demonstrated success in leading a marketing team in the nonprofit, agency and/or corporate sector. S/he should be deeply motivated by Youth For Christ’s mission to reach kids for Christ and motivated to grow the Church by reaching kids who are far from the Church. 

Essential Functions

Department Leadership: 

  • Lead and refine marketing processes, priorities and supporting systems of the Marketing department. 
  • Establish growth-oriented goals that fit within the strategy of the Mission Investment division (which includes both marketing and development departments).  
  • Supervise department staff and agency partners. 
  • Collaborate closely with Development department. 
  • Oversee ongoing operations, project management, and execution of all marketing responsibilities according to strategic directives, defined scope and established processes. 
  • Consistent application of continual improvement. 
  • Holds personnel and agency partners accountable to assignments, ensuring proactive and positive contributions from the Marketing Department. 

Marketing Leadership: 

  • The Marketing Lead will be responsible for ensuring an overall digital-first marketing strategy. 
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders including the Development Team, Office of the President, agency partners and field leaders to ensure clarity of target audience and realization of marketing goals. 
  • Manage projects and deadlines, leveraging essential resources (staff, agency partners/ vendors, and action plans). 
  • Strategically ensure best practices in data management as related to marketing-specific needs. 
  • Enhance a marketing pipeline leveraging digital resources to convert strangers, to visitors, to warm leads and ultimately to donors (primary) and leaders (secondary). 
  • Oversee nationally coordinated marketing campaigns. 
  • Responsible for content and content strategies. 
  • Coordinate with YFC USA Tech for the ongoing deployment and maintenance of digital channels (website, social media etc). 

Financial Leadership: 

  • The Marketing Lead will be responsible for drafting and maintaining the budget for all Marketing Department activities, vendors and other related revenues and expenses.  
  • Maintain appropriate staffing and agency levels through planning and ongoing budget responsibilities. 
  • In coordination with the Risk and Legal Department, solicit, negotiate and ensure adherence to all contracts and agreements with vendors. 
  • Proactively adjust revenues and expenses to ensure objectives are upheld without impacts to quality. 

Spiritual Responsibilities:

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. 

 

As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to: 

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives. 
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC. 
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events. 
  • Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression.  

Additionally, YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

Fundraising Responsibilities:

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts. 

 

For Affiliate and Chapter Staff: YFC may attach a minimum fundraising goal to certain projects, activities, departments, or individuals. 

Position Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

Willing to demonstrate and/or possesses the following:  

  • Demonstrated experience with digital (and print marketing), with emphasis on WordPress, email marketing, social medial marketing and digital advertising. 
  • Strong data-driven understanding of marketing best-practices. 
  • Data analysis, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making 
  • Effective writing, speaking, presenting and active listening skills. 
  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with management, team members, field staff and donors where applicable. 
  • Familiarity with content management systems, webpage analytics, customer relationship management and other relevant software 
  • Understanding of industry best practices 
  • Creativity, adaptability and familiarity with current marketing trends. 
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills. 
  • Project management skills, including goal setting and deadline management. 
  • Great organization, time management and prioritization abilities. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 
  • Able to confidently navigate and work in Salesforce and other software to generate reporting on campaigns, analyze data and create/optimize campaigns. 

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, advertising, or communications 
  • 7-10 years’ experience, with 4+ of that experience demonstrating industry relevant experience.
