Position Summary

This position exists to reach 11-19-year-old youth with the gospel through Authentic Christ-sharing relationships by leading YFC ministry within the Lakewood/ JBLM area. This includes casting vision, fostering the YFC Cultural Attributes and Five Essentials, implementing strategy, utilizing best practices, establishing fruitful and sustainable ministry while maintaining YFC USA’s policies for compliance. The Lakewood/ JBLM Program Manager will focus on the Campus Life ministry model while also incorporating knowledge of Parent Life and Juvenile Justice ministry models to provide a holistic approach to youth outreach.

Essential Functions

The Program Manager will specialize in the Youth for Christ Campus Life ministry model and be knowledgeable in Youth For Christ 5 essentials, 3Story Relational Ministry, and the specific YFC ministry models of Parent Life and Juvenile Justice. The Site Leader will model 3Story relationships with young people and empower their volunteer team to do the same. 

Ministry Site Management (65%) 

•Recruit, train, and supervise a team of ministry leaders for the ministry site(s) in accordance with

YFC/USA requirements. 

•Plan and execute monthly team meetings with site volunteers to plan, pray, and develop a community that is equipped to deliver effective ministry. 

•Ensure that all ministry standards attached to the ministry site are met. 

•Regularly communicate the health and direction of the ministry site with the CL Ministry Director. 

•Strategize with the CL Ministry Director to make ministry adjustments as necessary. 

•Track ministry fruitfulness and input data into YFC Impact. 

Community Connections (10%) 

•Develop relationships with community influencers. 

•Work with the Community Engagement Officer to engage local churches and community partners in partnering with Tacoma Youth for Christ. 

•Foster connections with parents, guardians, and community stakeholders to support a holistic ministry approach. 

Ministry Training and Growth (15%) 

•Participate in local, regional, and national training opportunities. 

•Ensure your volunteer team remains engaged with the larger organizational structure of YFC by encouraging full participation in non-site specific training and events. 

•Teach Biblical truth and conduct ongoing training for your volunteer teams. 

Fund Development (10%) 

•Collaborate fully with fund development by leveraging relationships and inviting others to hear the story of Tacoma YFC. 

Specific goals for the Lakewood/JBLM Program Manager position: 

1.Expand Youth Engagement: 

oIncrease the number of youth (ages 11-19) participating in Campus Life, Parent Life, and Juvenile Justice programs by 20% within the first year. 

oDevelop and implement outreach strategies to connect with youth in the Lakewood and JBLM regions. 

2.Volunteer Development: 

oRecruit and train at least 10 new volunteers within the first six months. 

oEnsure all volunteers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively engage with youth and support ministry activities. 

3.Community Partnerships: 

oEstablish partnerships with at least five local churches, schools, and community organizations to support and enhance ministry efforts. 

oFoster relationships with local juvenile justice systems and parents to create a supportive network for youth. 

4.Program Implementation: 

oSuccessfully launch and sustain at least two new Campus Life clubs within the first year. 

oIntegrate Parent Life and Juvenile Justice ministry models into existing programs to provide a holistic approach to youth ministry. 

5.Fund Development: 

oCollaborate with the fund development team to raise awareness and financial support for Tacoma YFC. 

oParticipate in at least three fundraising events annually and share compelling stories of youth transformation. 

6.Ministry Impact: 

oTrack and report on ministry outcomes using YFC Impact, ensuring data is up-to-date and accurately reflects program success. 

oRegularly assess and adjust ministry strategies to improve effectiveness and reach more youth. 

7.Personal and Professional Growth: 

oParticipate in ongoing training and development opportunities to stay current with best practices in youth ministry. 

oSet and achieve personal development goals that align with the mission and vision of Tacoma YFC. 

These goals aim to ensure the Program Manager can effectively lead and grow the ministry, build strong relationships with youth and the community, and contribute to the overall success of Tacoma Youth for Christ.

Fundraising Responsibilities

1. Be a great storyteller—each YFC staff should be ready and willing to share the mission of YFC and stories of young people making steps towards Jesus in a clear and compelling presentation. YFC staff will be given opportunities to share their stories in different venues such as the Auction, See the Story events, and smaller gatherings.

2. Coach volunteers to raise up young people to be great storytellers—YFC staff will equip volunteers to raise up young people who can clearly articulate their journey with Jesus to both fellow peers and adults. 

3. Invite your circle of influence—YFC staff will invite friends and family to events where the mission of YFC as well as volunteer, prayer, and financial partnership opportunities are presented.  

While a specific money amount is not attached to this expectation, we work towards a common goal of asking the Father to provide the financial resources necessary to reach more 11-19 year olds across Pierce County with the life transforming hope found in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is the one who moves in peoples’ hearts to invest financially. Therefore, we will measure your activity and effort towards being a storyteller, coaching storytellers, and inviting others to this mission. 

Spiritual Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

As an employee of Youth for Christ and a minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

●Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.

●Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.

●Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
