Position Summary

In Parent Life, we have the unique opportunity to make a positive impact on multiple generations of a family: the teen parent(s), their child(ren), and sometimes their parents or guardians.

“Kid’s Club” teachers are childcare workers that are part of our Ministry Teams. Their intentions should be to treat every child as made in the image of God and to  partner with the young parents in taking care of these children during times of ministry and relationship building.

Ministry Guidelines

  • Follow the TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention) content and strategies in working with young people and their children.  (Provided by Parent Life Site Director)
  •  Facility
    • Be sure to evaluate the facility to ensure it is safe physically, is set up or can be set up for child care.
    • Be sure to evaluate the facility to ensure it is sanitize properly. (Guidelines found on the TBRI)
  • Program/activities
    • Ensure that all activities are age appropriate and that you have adequate supplies.
  • Children
    • When deciding ahead of time what ages you will care for, consider if there are age groups you won't or can't care for.
  • Personnel/People
    • All staff must be fully onboarded through the Leader Journey System (no exceptions).
    • Always ensure there is more than adequate number of staff, by having back up people in case leaders don't/can't show up.
    • Staff trained in child care is ideal. There are certifications that can be obtained even though it may not be necessary.
    • The age of staff is important when working with young children.
    • Be sure to have multiple staff in each area of child care so if bathroom breaks are needed 2 staff/volunteer can take a child and 2 staff/volunteer can remain with those in the main room. If not enough staff/volunteer follow up with Parent Life Director.
  • Consent and Release of Liability Forms
    •  A Consent and Release of Liability Form will be needed for each child taken care of.  If the child’s parent is a minor under the care of a parent or guardian, both the parent of the child and the parent/guardian of the minor need to sign the Consent and Release of Liability Form.  If the parent of the child involved in your child care program is an adult or is an emancipated teen/adult, they are able to sign the Consent and Release of Liability Form themselves. This can be tricky and our team is here to assist you navigate this are as well.
