Position Summary

The job of the Juvenile Justice Ministry Director requires an individual who is gifted in navigating multicultural and socially diverse environments, leading a team of site directors for effective ministry objectives. Director needs to display an understanding of the juvenile justice system and a willingness to learn that system and have confidence navigating the world of probation, juvenile corrections, court systems, etc.

Essential Functions

Direct Ministry with Students

  • Implement YFC's Relational Ministry Actions (RMA) Framework below to develop authentic Christ-sharing relationships with young people.
  • Contacting: meet new students, learn names and develop relationships through weekly school involvement, as well as other places where students gather.
  • Building times: spend time in shared experiences with students to build new relationships and grow existing ones.
  • Appointments: meet with students to focus on their individual needs.
  • Small groups: meet with several students to have an interactive discussion about relevant topics & connect them to God's truth.
  • Aftercare: formalized program to establish authentic Christ-sharing relationships with young people who transition from a juvenile justice facility. 

Direct Ministry with Volunteers 

  • Recruit, train and empower a team of ministry leaders to carry out weekly ministry using the RMAs.
  • Meet weekly with at least one current or potential volunteers.

Administration

  • Plan & prepare for ministry activities, meetings, events, etc. 
  • Attend staff meetings, trip & event planning meetings, & meetings with supervisor as scheduled
  • Complete weekly & monthly ministry reports
  • Ensure that all volunteers complete & comply with annual training requirements

Community Relations

  • Develop a strong relationship with the schools, juvenile justice systems, churches, and like-minded entities. 
  • Develop relationships & provide good communication & support with parents

  • Ability to coach, motivate, and lead teams of adults, volunteers, and student leaders
  • Spirit of collaboration with like-minded partners (individuals, churches, businesses)
  • Strong interpersonal communication & problem solving skills
  • Motivated self-starter

Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Youth and Juvenile Justice ministry experience (preferably 3 years or more)

Google Suite & Microsoft Office

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
