Position Summary

Position Purpose

The Engagement Assistant plays a vital support role on the Development team, focusing on building strong relationships with donors and volunteers, ensuring the smooth execution of events, and assisting with fundraising and grant management efforts. This role prioritizes key strategies for donor retention and engagement.

 

This role was designed to provide relief and structure to a growing development department, ensuring that planning, stewardship, and administrative follow-through are centered as we expand our donor base and deepen impact.

 

The ideal candidate is organized, relational, detail-oriented, and comfortable coordinating both logistics and people.

Position Requirements

Essential Job Functions & Duties

Event Planning & Coordination (Approx. 40%)

You will coordinate the planning and logistics for our core events, including:

  • Two major annual fundraising events
  • Volunteer appreciation and engagement events (2–3 annually)
  • Donor touchpoints and cultivation gatherings (breakfasts, small group tours, thank-you receptions)

Specific tasks include:

  • Creating event timelines, task trackers, and managing run-of-show documents
  • Coordinating vendors, volunteers, and internal teams
  • Supporting registration, RSVP tracking, and day-of materials
  • Assisting with event setup, guest experience, and post-event follow-up
  • Gathering stories, testimonials, and photos for future use

Development Support & Donor Engagement (Approx. 40%)

You will provide direct support to the Development Director by helping manage donor and fundraising operations behind the scenes, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting with donor communications, mailings processes
  • Tracking and preparing donor appreciation materials or gifts
  • Helping with database updates and ensuring accurate donor records
  • Supporting donor research 
  • Collaborating with the Strategic Partner Coordinator to coordinate outreach and event promotions 

Fundraising & Grant Management Support (Approx. 20%)

In partnership with the Development Director, you’ll help sustain fundraising and grant efforts with operational follow-through, including but not limited to:

  • Supporting with grant application research
  • Helping track grant deadlines and assist with application logistics
  • Gathering attachments, documentation, and progress reports
  • Assisting with light donor reporting or annual appeals
  • Organizing campaign and sponsorship data across projects and events

  •  Seek God’s guidance and wisdom through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Assist the Ministry Equipping Team to teach religious truth and facilitate religious observance at training and ministry events.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion, and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.

Knowledge & Skills

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • 2+ years of experience in nonprofit, development, fundraising, or administrative roles
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience planning and coordinating events (small and large)
  • Familiarity with donor databases, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office
  • Comfortable learning new systems and working independently on multiple tasks

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
