Position Summary
The Director of Development serves as the strategic architect of revenue generation and financial growth for the Youth for Christ (YFC) chapter. Working as the primary executive complement to the Executive Director (who retains spiritual and ministry command), this role translates the local chapter's stories of spiritual transformation into clear, actionable investment opportunities for major donors, corporate partners, foundations, and local churches. The Director of Development oversees all fundraising campaigns, banquet executions, major donor cultivation, and grant writing pipelines to systematically sustain the 10 current ministry sites and fund the strategic multi-site expansion plan.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
1. Major Donor Cultivation & Moves Management (40%)
•Portfolio Stewardship: Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a personal portfolio of 75–100 major individual financial partners ($2,500+ annually).
•Executive Facilitation: Schedule, prepare, and accompany the Executive Director on high-level donor pitches, matching the ED's raw ministry stories with targeted giving proposals.
•Vision Casting: Regularly escort existing and prospective financial champions onto the field to observe the 10 local ministry sites firsthand, linking donor capital directly to regional spiritual impact.
2. Strategic Campaigns & Event Execution (30%)
•Large-Scale Banquets: Serve as the executive project manager for the chapter's annual fundraising banquet and golf tournaments, owning the operational timeline, table-captain recruitment, and financial underwriting metrics.
•Giving Logistics: Design and implement comprehensive year-end matching campaigns, monthly partner acquisition pushes, and peer-to-peer digital giving frameworks.
•Corporate Partnerships: Build business-to-business sponsorship packages that afford local marketplace leaders the opportunity to invest heavily in community youth development infrastructure.
3. Foundations, Institutional Grants & Church Alliances (20%)
•Grant Writing: Research, draft, and submit data-grounded funding proposals to private family foundations, community trusts, and corporate philanthropy boards.
•Church Mission Budgets: Partner alongside the Executive Director to pitch local church mission boards, securing predictable, long-term monthly or annual chapter subsidies from corporate church allocations.
4. Shared Infrastructure, Database & Team Alignment (10%)
•Data Integrity: Collaborate directly with the Operations Coordinator to audit giving data in Salesforce CRM, ensuring flawless tracking of donor pledges, clean acknowledgment timelines, and giving pattern analysis.
•Personal Ministry Fund: Model sacrificial leadership by cultivating and maintaining a small personal network of prayer and financial partners to subsidize their own leadership presence within the chapter.
