Position Summary

Hours: 25-40 hours per week, based on experience and availability

GOAL: To work as part of a team to advance the mission and vision of the Central Ohio Youth for Christ among youth in Franklinton, and to grow the abilities and skills to lead effectively in a Christian ministry.

KEY OBJECTIVES:

  • Work with fellow staff and volunteers to impact students for Jesus Christ, contributing to the growth of YFC’s ministry impact on the Westside of Columbus.
  • Mobilize and lead volunteer teams to engage unchurched Westside youth and help them become lifelong followers of Jesus who lead.
  • Learn and implement YFC’s Relational Ministry Actions, 5 Essentials, and Holistic Model with excellence.
  • Work with local churches, schools and other community partners to connect with students and build mutually beneficial partnerships that aid in the fulfillment of YFC’s mission.
  • Grow personally, professionally, spiritually and in leadership capacity.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Walk and lead in God-dependence through an abiding and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Lead by example in initiating Christ-sharing relationships with unchurched youth.
  • Inspire and facilitate the building of excellent ministry teams that meet or exceed yearly goals, while coaching, facilitating and amplifying the ministry of each volunteer.
  • Work with staff and volunteers to grow middle school and high school outreach and discipleship programs, especially Wednesday evening Bible studies and mentoring groups.
  • Work with City Life team and Student Ministry Team to plan, recruit for and lead multiple trips, Camps and All Area Meetings to accomplish YFC mission.
  • Lead, manage and grow various student programming initiatives.
  • Assist in student leader program efforts as needed.
  • Actively participate in YFC training opportunities as assigned.
  • Enter, study and utilize data to facilitate strategic ministry leadership and faithful stewardship.
  • Fulfill City Life team and COYFC staff responsibilities, including See the Story and Be the Story invitations and cultivating donor relationships as requested.
  • Fulfill COYFC spiritual responsibilities (see back page for more details).
  • Fulfill various staff administrative duties in a timely manner, including timesheet, monthly ministry data, emails, etc.
  • Help mobilize prayer meetings, add new prayer partners, and contribute to written communication that informs ministry supporters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

As an employee of Youth for Christ and a minister of the Gospel, COYFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Regularly share the gospel message with students who come into contact with COYFC ministries
