Position Summary

Being a youth is tough! Help be the change by joining our commitment to the community of Wyoming helping young people navigate the transformational years of middle and high school and uncovering God’s story of hope.

West Michigan Youth for Christ (YFC) and Together Church are excited to present a dual opportunity for a 'Hybrid' Community Youth Ministry Director/Church Youth Minister to serve Godwin Heights High School and Together Church in Wyoming. In this role, you will work on the high school campus daily to grow pure relationships with kids aged 11-19 from all walks of life while serving the school, staff, and community. As our youth minister, you will serve as an integral associate of the church life and community partnering with a diverse group of 6th - 12th grade students building an intentional community through discipleship, biblical teaching, and mentoring relationships while attending services. Through this partnership, we seek to implement relational ministry actions to develop authentic Christ-sharing relationships with young people. We believe the Gospel comes to life in the overlap of God’s story, our story, and a young person's story.

Our ideal candidate will possess spiritual and organizational leadership skills, communication, strong social intelligence, and the ability to connect with and through all people, but above all a ‘heart for the marginalized and unseen’ in the community. We desire an innovative and resolute leader to help break new ground for the Kingdom.

As a religious nonprofit organization, some of the responsibilities in this hybrid role will include:

  • Student Ministry: Direct ministry with students by performing weekly Campus Life relational ministry action items (RMA’s), contacting, building times, appointments, small groups, core club, and participating in related strategic trips and events. Direct, attend, and participate in weekly youth ministry activities, attend services, and share in worship. Perform a variety of administrative tasks. Educate, encourage, and raise lifelong followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Volunteer Ministry: Direct, lead, and empower the current youth ministry volunteers, including training, meetings, community support, and recruiting for direct ministry and prayer volunteers.
  • School/Church Collaboration: Develop and cultivate healthy access by serving, nurturing, and maintaining positive relationships within and between the school and church, its leadership, support staff, volunteers, and community.
  • Fundraising: Regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance YFC’s stewardship functions. These activities include extending invitations to fundraising events, recruiting a personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and ministering to donor contacts.
  • Spiritual Alignment: Lead, participate, and disciple as a recognized associate minister of the Gospel, use the Holy Bible, and align with the Wesleyan Church's core beliefs.
  • Participate and Attend in Growth & Development

We believe the Gospel comes to life in the overlap of God’s story, our story, and a young person's story. Our commitment to our employees extends to their growth, development, promotion, training, benefits, and compensation.
