Position Summary

Qualifications:

  1. Good rapport with the community at large.
  2. Agrees with the vision of Campus Life
  3. Fulfill educational requirements as set by Campus Life, USA 
  4. Proficient with the use of computers and/or iPads and use of MS Word, Google Suite, and email
  5. Able to complete the screening and selection process of Campus Life
  6. Complete curriculum training as directed.
  7. Physically and mentally able to perform all duties as assigned.
  8. Actively involved in a local church fellowship.

Spiritual Qualifications:

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate, and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

As an employee of Youth for Christ / Campus Life and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole and specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion, and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps, and events.

Additionally, YFC / Campus Life employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA. As such, the following additional spiritual responsibilities will apply to this position: 

  • Perform sacramental functions such as the taking of communion and leading times of corporate prayer, confession, and praise.
  • Perform and lead religious ceremonies such as weddings, baptisms, and funerals when called upon by staff and other YFC / Campus Life community members.

Responsibilities:

  1. Be prepared to share the Gospel with teenagers at any time and to lead them to Christ as the opportunity presents itself. (Be trained in 3 Story evangelism)
  2. Provide quality services to Dinuba Unified School District for mentoring 4th – 12th Grade students as contracted by DUSD
  3. Be available as communicated to by each school administration staff to meet with students during school hours (individuals and/or small groups)
  4. Network with each school site district admin.
  5. Provide home visits as needed to enhance the effectiveness of the mentoring services to the students. Always go with a partner to home visits and document all home visits.
  6. Provide cognitive, and ethical intervention and development through mentoring students using the “Character Counts” curriculum.
  7. Provide quality, wholesome activities to students
  8. Provide small group discussion opportunities to care for the needs of students as needed.
  9. Provide activities for social and emotional development
  10. Serve the needs of students in the DUSD
  11. Work with the team leader to document all mentoring activities and interventions to formulate a measurable result to determine the effectiveness of the Mentoring Program at the end of the year using the Campus Life Google Docs forms to build and document your caseload daily and providing monthly updates on the data collected and send to the team leader.
  12. Be involved with Campus Life fundraising for finances for Campus Life services.
  13. Communicate regularly with the Team Lead regarding needs, results, and personal needs. 
  14. Develop community relationships with each area to support the vision and mission of Campus Life.
  15. Help to promote, recruit, develop, and maintain Campus Life Mentor Teams including training, fundraising, and leadership of projects 
  16. All other responsibilities as listed by Campus Life, USA

Expectations:

  1. Attend all staff meetings
  2. Hand in receipts for reimbursement
  3. Complete Impact Reports online at the end of each quarter.
  4. Submit newsletter updates to XD as requested by the Executive Director.
  5. Be visible with proper uniform and visible identification at all times
  6. Assist school staff, administration, and law enforcement resource officers
  7. Be consistent for students and, if necessary, families as a role model.
  8. Be understanding of confidentiality limits, borders, and reporting processes
  9. Provide regular mentoring through the lessons from Character Counts, and activities associated with the program.
  10. Regularly log and report data for tracking purposes
  11. Maintain an excellent reputation in the community as you are a representative of Campus Life
  12. Understand that you are a mandated reporter and communicate all reportable issues to the Team Lead and the Executive Director, and then make a report to CPS or the police dept.

Essential Functions: 

Ministry Team Development

  • Recruit, train, and maintain a volunteer ministry leader team by the processes found on the YFC Hub
  • Create a strong connection between local churches and the ministry site
  • Provide training materials and ministry site standards for ministry leaders
  • Develop healthy 3 Story teams for each ministry site
  • Establish necessary support and guidelines to ensure a healthy and growing ministry at all sites
  • Be an advocate in the community for young people
  • Report progress and ministry updates to YFC

Relational Ministry Action Development

  • Responsible for managing, facilitating, and serving in the Relational Ministry Actions (RMAs)
  • Direct the 3 Story Team at their site in accomplishing the standards outlined in the RMAs found on the YFC Hub
  • Establish and develop programming materials
  • Train and evaluate ministry site leaders in the implementation of curriculum materials

Credentials Required & Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not necessary

Three years of ministry experience

Fundraising Responsibilities:

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fundraising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
