Position Summary

GOAL: To advance the mission of Central Ohio Youth for Christ, including affiliates and

subsidiaries, by delivering comprehensive driver education to novice drivers (primarily

teenagers ages 15 – 18 and adults 19 & older). This role balances structured

classroom lectures with practical, behind-the-wheel instruction to help students develop

safe driving habits, master traffic laws, and successfully pass the Ohio BMV driver’s

examination.

KEY OBJECTIVES

● Classroom Instruction: Deliver the state-approved 24-hour Class D

curriculum covering Ohio traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and sharing

the road safely.

● Behind-the-Wheel Training: Conduct 1-on-1 practical driving lessons (typically

8 hours per student for teens), progressing from quiet neighborhoods to

high-traffic streets and expressways.

● Safety Management: Maintain absolute vehicle control at all times using

dual-brakes, ensuring the safety of the student, instructor, and public.

● Progress Tracking: Evaluate student performance, document completed hours,

and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.

● Mission: Respectfully and openly discuss your faith journey with students who

show an interested in learning about the love of Christ

 

Position Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

● At least 21 years old

● Pass an FBI/BCI fingerprint background check

● Have held a valid driver’s license for 5+ years with no history of license

suspension, and 2 or fewer points currently active on your Ohio BMV driver

abstract

● Pass a standard state-regulated physical exam signed by a licensed physician.

● Possess or obtain Ohio Class D Driver Training Instructor license

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

● Experience teaching, coaching, or training teens or young adults

● Patient, calm, and supportive with students of all skill levels
