Position Summary

Program Overview

The internship program is a paid internship running from May through August, and it is designed for high school graduates age 18-22. Each intern will spend 10-20 hours a week, half of that time spent being trained and mentored/coached in their personal faith as well as in tools for ministry and the other half spent going into the field of direct ministry at one of our YFC sites across Omaha. Interns are individuals committed to developing one’s-self through dedicated service as part of a holistic community focused on authentic Christ-sharing relationships with lost kids.

Reports Directly to LIT Director & Site Director

Essential Functions

BELONG.

·      Build relationships with community, leaders, and peers

·      Be part of a united team with one focus: to glorify Christ in all we do with a sense of belonging to the neighborhoods we serve in as well as the team we minister with

GROW.

·      Attend weekly trainings consistently (beginning in May and going through the end of August)

·      Meet with your assigned mentor monthly

·      Report and submit to your Site Director and Intern Director

SERVE.

·      Fulfill 1-2 Relational Ministry Actions with lost kids weekly (Club/Programming, Small Groups, Appointments, Building Times, Contacting, Trips, Core Team)

·      Attend events, retreats, and camps as needed

·      Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.

·      Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship

·      Teach and preach from the Holy Bible, accurately handling Biblical truth

·      Model empathy, humility and care for all people.

·      Be active in a local church

*Please note that these are qualities we will focus on developing in the internship program. We do not expect perfection nor anything near it, but we do see these as important qualities to develop.

Position Requirements

  Have earned a high school diploma or GED

·      Complete GOYFC application & background check

·      Attend GOYFC safety training & mentor training

·      Have dependable and consistent transportation

·      Initial interview with Internship Director

·      Sign Ministry Covenant

·      Report and submit to your Site Director and Internship Director

·      Attend weekly trainings consistently

·      Fulfill 1-2 RMAs weekly, depending on capacity

·      Attend all GOYFC events, retreats, camps as needed

·      Meet with your assigned mentor 3.5 hours a month

Fundraising Responsibilities

All GOYFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of GOYFC. Interns will focus on the entry level activities of sending monthly letters to their personal circles of influence and ministering to their donors through prayer and handwritten thank you/encouragement cards. Interns will be paid consistently, regardless of the amount of funds they raise over the course of the summer, so this should not hinder one from being part of the Internship program.
