Position Summary

Advance the mission of Siouxland Youth for Christ (SYFC) by providing leadership in regional vision, resource development, community engagement, and ministry expansion. This role will steward an extensive network of communities and community leaders, interpersonal relationships, both virtually and in person, for the sake of multiplying communities, ministry sites, and authentic Christ-sharing relationships with 11-19-year-olds.

YFC Mission

YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to prayer and the Word of God, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement.

Essential Functions

Ministry Resource Development (40%)

Responsible for ensuring the financial health of the region by executing the SYFC development plan in both existing and new ministry sites, in partnership with staff.

  • Work with the Ex Dir, XLT, and Ministry Development Team to develop, manage, and monitor a comprehensive annual fundraising plan for the region
  • Build and manage a personal portfolio of 75-100 ministry partner relationships (hand off others to regional community leaders)
  • Expand the giving base by conducting appointments and other development activities with existing and prospective ministry partners
  • Oversee the various communities' donor database to ensure accurate recording of donor gifts and activities
  • Work with Marketing and Communications Team to ensure the timely communication of community letters, newsletters, and correspondence with partners
  • Secure grants from local, state, and national foundations, in partnership with Ministry Development Team
  • Work with Ex Dir increasing awareness of and engagement in legacy giving opportunities with major giving partners
  • Achieve successful outcome and growth metrics through STS/BTS/Champions events, including sponsorship acquisition
  • Assist staff with high potential giving partners

Community Engagement and Ministry Expansion (30%)

Responsible for serving as an advocate for lost teens and the issues they face, inspiring people to action for the sake of ministry growth.

  • Serve as the senior point of contact for communities represented in all South Regional communities
  • Provide leadership to Community Support Teams to enhance, resource, and empower communities and ministry sites
  • Effectively communicate the mission and vision of SYFC to groups of all sizes, creating pathways for involvement
  • Work with ministry staff to recruit new volunteers to serve in the mission
  • Build key relationships and networks to allow for future ministry expansion
  • Participate in community activities and strategic groups to introduce and represent SYFC to new and existing partners
  • Ensure proximity to ministry through presence, observation, and direct investment 

Strategic Leadership (20%)

Responsible for providing spiritual and organizational leadership for the advancement of the YFC mission across the Southern Region.

  • Personally abiding in Christ and leading out of a posture of humility and servanthood
  • Developing a clear, practical, and inspiring vision for the Region in line with SYFC’s vision and strategy
  • Contribute as part of the XLT Leadership team to the strategic planning efforts of the chapter
  • Determine the region’s priorities in the annual planning cycle and ensure the communication and execution of those priorities
  • Serve as an excellent communicator who is capable of being the ‘face’ for ministry communities and sites in the region
  • Cultivate collaborative partnerships with churches, organizations, businesses, and colleges

Operational Management, Direct Ministry and Administration (10%)

Responsible for managing the administrative operations of the ministry throughout the Region in partnership with the SYFC Ex Dir and Operations team. This includes:

  • Provide oversight of and management of the regional and community budgets
  • Assist with asset management (facility and transportation)
  • Plan and prepare for all meetings
  • Manage assigned projects, schedules, and ongoing administrative tasks 
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and training assignments (credentialing) on time
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervisor appointments, retreats, and conferences
  • Interface with the SYFC board when appropriate

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC. These activities will include but are not limited to: extending invitations to fundraising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts. The Area Director may attach a minimum fundraising goal to certain projects, activities, departments, or individuals.

Spiritual Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
  • Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression. YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 5-7 years of experience in a related field. Demonstrated accomplishments in the area of fundraising, non-profit leadership, or communication. The learning curve for this position will require at least one full annual cycle.

Travel Requirements

  • Regional. Up top 50% of time is expected for travel with this position, where the travel occurs, such as locally or in the area. Very occasional travel is overnight for a YFC event or camp.
