As a YFC Product Owner, you will be responsible for leading the strategy, development, and implementation of our YFC Products developed on the Salesforce NPSP Platform. You will collaborate with key stakeholders, including ministry/field staff, and other Salesforce Administrators, to gather requirements, estimate projects, build solutions, and ensure the successful delivery of solutions. Your expertise in Salesforce and your understanding of ministry processes will be instrumental in driving innovation, efficiency, user satisfaction and mission goals.

Essential Functions:

This role will be well versed in the Salesforce Product suite we use: NPSP Cloud, Sales Cloud, Experience Cloud, Sales Enablement and Mobile App Publisher (soon).

Within the Salesforce NPSP platform, YFC has developed the following products that you will be responsible for alongside another Product Owner. Each Product Owner will have their own portfolio of products but will be knowledgeable of all products and how they relate to one another.

 

  • YFC Leader Journey System: Volunteer/Staff Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
  • YFC Youth Journey System: Youth Tracker and Mission Outcomes
  • YFC Chapter Progression Tool: Chapter Assessment Tool
  • YFC Knowledge Base (Experience Site): Internal Staff Portal
  • YFC Salesforce: Donor CRM and Fundraising Tool
  • YFC Service: Case Management and Ticketing Tool
  • YFC Contracts: Contract Management Tool
  • myTrailhead (Sales Enablement): Learning Management Tool

At YFC we prioritize declarative programming and administrative tools, over coded solutions. All solutions that require coding are managed by the Product Owner but outsourced to a vendor partner. This role will be well versed in how to apply all declarative programming options available within the Salesforce platform in a creative, yet effective way. This role should understand how to build flows, debug flows, and manage flows. This role should also be able to peer review and edit vendor-built flows and flows built by other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own Product Roadmaps, aligning each Product with the YFC’s goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, document user stories, and define acceptance criteria for solutions.
  • Prioritize and manage the Product Backlog, ensuring that requirements and user stories are well-defined, estimated, and aligned with our overall Department Roadmap.
  • Conduct regular feedback loops, meetings, and workshops with users to understand their needs, provide updates, and gather feedback.
  • Collaborate with key vendor partner and other Salesforce Administrators to configure, customize, and enhance the Salesforce platform to meet solution requirements.
  • Perform Salesforce data hygiene analysis and provide insights to drive data quality and integrity.
  • Stay up to date with Salesforce best practices, new features, and industry trends to recommend and implement improvements.

Primary and Secondary Steward Responsibilities:

Employees may be assigned a Primary Steward of any of the following:

  • Volunteer(s)
  • Donor(s)
  • Vendor(s)
  • Chapter(s)
  • Process, Standard and Best Practices (PSBPs)

Specific assignments for the Primary Steward will be listed in the Task List.

 

All Employees are assigned the role of Secondary Steward, which plays a supporting role to the Primary Steward to serve a chapter in a specific way, for a specific timeframe as determined by the Primary Steward. Secondary Stewards can be assigned to focus on specific management issues like YFC compliance, legal, risk, strategic planning, fund development coaching, staff development coaching, new ministry site development, process stewardship or a variety of other equipping roles.

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

Fundraising Responsibilities:

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.

For Affiliate and Chapter Staff: YFC may attach a minimum fundraising goal to certain projects, activities, departments, or individuals.

Position Requirements

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Salesforce Product Owner or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce platform capabilities, features, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, and experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Solid understanding of business processes and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Credentials Required & Preferred Education:

  • Salesforce Admin 201 Certification.
  • 5+ Years of Salesforce Admin Experience, preferably with the NPSP and Salesforce Experience Cloud.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information, and to prepare or inspect documents.

 

Activities require the ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, occasionally move about inside the office to access files or office equipment, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, hand held devices, copy machine, and computer printer. 

 

No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force may be required. Good manual dexterity required for the use of computers, mobile devices, and other productivity technologies.

 

The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Extended periods of sitting and extensive work at a computer and phone are normal.
