Position Summary

PURPOSE

Help advance the mission of Youth for Christ of Northern Indiana (YFCNIN) with a focus on strategically creating programs to engage our urban youth that align with our mission to raise indigenous leaders. Additionally, recruit and train caring adults (ministry leaders) in our community to serve the young people of Fort Wayne with the holistic City Life model. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversight & Growth of Programs: 

  • Launch RealTALK groups at participating FWCS
  • Work directly with school guidance counselors/admin to gain support of program – be present at school weekly during RealTALK to oversee flow and offer support 
  • Recruit Ministry Leaders, assist with processes for approval, assist with training ministry leaders for RealTALK / City Life Center
  • Develop program, select material/write curriculum, equip and empower ministry leaders 
  • Organize structure of small groups of students, tracking attendance and high level of communication with school to keep a smooth and consistent flow 
  • After school hours at City Life Center weekly – relational ministry among students and ministry leaders and help create & support programs
  • Bridge gap from schools to City Life Center / build relationships with students 
  • Organizational/Administrative duties required
  • Special opportunities (large and small groups)
  • Recruit students, ensure they are plugged in; may need to step into a specific class 
  • Assist City Life Director with Trips and Events for City Life students (Promote/Recruit/Engage) 

SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Youth for Christ is a Christian faith-based, 501c3 organization that requires all staff to be actively living out their Christian faith and committed to a local church body.

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage lifelong disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

As an employee of Youth for Christ and a minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Established work experience with urban/under resourced population
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and lead teams of adults, ministry leaders, and students
