Position Summary

YFC Mission

YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to prayer and the Word of God, passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement.

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to develop and lead outreach ministries on middle and high school campuses in Plymouth County communities. This position focuses on reaching 11-19 year olds with the Gospel through Christ-sharing relationships, the development and empowerment of a team of volunteer ministry leaders and student leaders, along with the implementation of YFC ministry processes and the creation of strategies to establish a fruitful and sustainable Campus Life ministry.

Essential Functions

  • Ministry Health
    • Build ministry site/team culture that embodies YFC ministry essentials
    • Lead ministry team meetings and ministry communication to unify team and ministry efforts
    • Supervise the optimal # of volunteer ministry and student leaders
    • Develop ministry site and team goals
    • Create systems that coordinate healthy ministry
    • Keep the Area Director aware of ministry health, progress, and challenges
    • Oversight of ministry oriented Trips, Camps, and Events
    • Model ministry by remaining involved with teens
    • Develop a missional community within a Community Support Team and student leaders
  • Ministry Growth
    • Develop a long-term vision for ministry in coordination with Area Director
    • Develop new potential ministry areas/possibilities within Plymouth Co
    • Develop partnerships churches and donors
    • Lead the process of identifying new volunteers and student leaders 
  • Personal Growth
    • Abide in Jesus
    • Book reading for personal and spiritual development
    • Attend YFC staff trainings and conferences
    • Complete the YFC Staff Training Blueprint
  • Leadership Development
    • Build a culture of leadership development within ministry sites, volunteer leaders, and the Community Support Team
    • Oversight of young leader investment in raising up young student leaders
  • Administration
    • Provide and input regular weekly/monthly info on the ministry site, student and volunteer reports in proper formats to Area Director
    • Schedule weekly/monthly time for planning meetings, activities, trainings, and events
    • Provide writing articles for social media and/or quarterly chapter newsletters
  • Community Relations
    • Promote YFC and Campus Life within the community
    • Develop relationships with students, parents, school administrators, teachers, churches, and businesses

Spiritual Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion, and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps, and events.
  • Model empathy, humility, and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression. YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

  • 4 year College education (preferred)
  • 1-3 years youth ministry experience 
  • Leading college, club, work, or sports team experience
  • Experience and ability to work on a team and independently

Physical Requirements

Activities require the ability to remain in a stationary position up to 25% of the time, occasionally move about inside the office to access files or office equipment, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as hand-held devices, copy machines, and computer printers.

  • No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of lifting to 25-50 lbs. may be required
  • Good manual dexterity is required for the use of computers, mobile devices, and other productivity technologies
  • The ability to communicate with others and especially co-workers is crucial
  • Regular use of the telephone and email for communication
  • Hearing and vision within normal ranges are essential for conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents
  • The job is performed indoors and outdoors in traditional settings

Travel Requirments

25% of travel time is expected for the position, where the travel occurs, such as locally or in the area. Very occasional travel is overnight.

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC. These activities will include but are not limited to: extending invitations to fundraising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts. The Area Director may attach a minimum fundraising goal to certain projects, activities, departments, or individuals.
