Mission Investment Specialist

The Mission Investment Specialist is a relationship cultivator extraordinaire. A champion for the Youth For Christ USA to acquire new giving partners while building awareness of Youth For Christ’s work through effectively using the processes and practices provided through Youth For Christ’s national development model. This position has the primary responsibility of donor acquisition, developing, growing, and sustaining annual giving as well as lifting mid-major relationships. 

Both relationally gifted and motivated by metrics, the Mission Investment Specialist is energized by proactive engagement that leads to seeing a potential giving partner introduced to Youth For Christ’s work, invited to give, and seeing enhanced missional commitment towards stated benchmarks and goals. Additionally, they are motivated by seeing partners become more generous in their ongoing giving, and by seeing lapsed partners re-engage with our mission.  

They are involved in the entire process of bringing in new prospects, cultivating relationships that connect them to opportunities for involvement and financial giving and ultimately becoming life-long partners of Youth For Christ.  

Essential Job Functions:

• Grow our annual giving. Accomplished through:
  • Introducing new first-time donors to Youth For Christ
  • Existing donors increasing their giving
  • Ensuring limited attrition of existing givers. 
• Works in collaboration with the Development department to establish financial goals related to annual giving revenue streams. 
• Tracks annual giving revenue progress towards annual goals.  
• Ensures healthy data practices and strategy with respect to donor and prospects. 

Prospect and Donor Cultivation:  

• Top priority is new donor conversion.
• Pro-actively reaches out to potential giving partners, in an effort to inspire participation with Youth For Christ’s mission.  
• Leads National Service Center staff in inviting prospects/ leads toward financial partnership, while directing staff to do the same.  
• Builds relationships through faithful, personalized touchpoints with current and potential giving partners interested in funding Youth For Christ’s mission/national service center operations.  
• Uses metrics to understand opportunities for acquiring new donors. 
• Works in collaboration with Development and Marketing departments to ensure that campaign strategies will result in new donor and existing donor engagement and cultivation.

Donor Cultivation: 

• Steward and cultivate YFC donors giving between $1-$4,999.
• Coach staff in strategies to care for and “lift” their donor relationships.
• Lead and equip the National Service Center staff in relational care activities for donors.  
• Implement special campaign projects, as assigned.  

NSC Staff “Circle of Influence” Program (COI):  

• Lead, equip, and inspire National Service Center staff to engage donors and prospects through the Circle of Influence annual giving program.  
• Orient new National Service Center staff to the Circle of Influence program.  
• Onboard and coach National Service Center staff to invite prospects toward financial partnership.  
• Facilitate National Service Center staff accountability and encouragement towards their stated goals. 
• Transition giving partner stewardship to other account owners as staff transition away from Youth For Christ. 

Spiritual Responsibilities:

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. 

As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to: 

• Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives. 
• Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC. 
• Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events. 
• Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression.  

Additionally, YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.  

Fundraising Responsibilities:

Responsible to maintain and grow an (existing) approximately $1M revenue stream in the form of regular giving partners, including through NSC staff “circle of influence” efforts.  

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
