Position Summary

This position exists in order to reach 11-19 year olds with the Gospel through authentic Christ-sharing relationships by leading ministry within the local community. This includes casting vision, implementing strategy, establishing fruitful and sustainable ministry while maintaining YFC USA's policies for compliance.

The Ministry Director reports to the Executive Director and serves as a key part of the leadership team. S/he is primarily responsible for, but not limited to, overseeing all ministry models for the chapter. This includes oversight of ministry sites, shepherding through the supervision of the ministry staff and their growth and development, resourcing the staff as they implement effective ministry, development of future ministry sites, community collaboration and fund development.

Essential Functions

Since MSSI positions are for transient military-connect adults, the duties below can be re-evaluated by the Point of Contact with each new duty station.

  • Recruit and Develop the YFC local Advisory Board or Community Support Team this includes a team of at least five people who meet a minimum of 8 times a year with an appointed chair.
  • Recruit and Develop YFC Leaders who in turn engage in Authentic Christ Sharing Relationships with lost young people within the community(s) the Direct Affiliate serves. This includes following YFC procedures for volunteer application, background checks and training.
  • Manage the Direct Affiliate YFC Impact account for monthly and quarterly compliance with all volunteer leader information and ministry site(s) information and data.
  • Implement YFC 5 Essential Ministry by developing programs, meeting with kids, developing partnerships and equipping other leaders in order to meet the goals of the affiliate.
    • Widespread Prayer - We deliberately engage lots of Christians to intercede on behalf of the ministry site. This value needs to strategically permeate all values, areas, and actions of your daily ministry.
    • Adults Who Empower - We strategically develop leaders to reach young people from every people group.
      • Campus Life staff build and lead teams of Christians adults (and students) who are committed to investing in the relational ministry process with lost teens.
      • This includes following YFC procedures for volunteer application, background checks and training.
    • Loving Relationships - We consistently pursue lost kids & engage them in life-long relationships with Jesus. *Campus Life uses six Relational Ministry Actions as its specialized skill set to move Loving Relationships forward:

      • Core Team
      • Club
    • Faithful Bible Teaching - We accurately handle Biblical truth, regularly coaching kids to apply it in their lives.
      • Competent Preparation

    • Collaborative Community Strategy - We intentionally work together with local churches, agencies and other partners to provide sustainable youth and family ministry.
  • Financial Management and Development by developing the annual budget and managing monthly expenses. (Also see section under 'fundraising'.)

Spiritual Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
  • Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression. YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

  • Bachelors Degree desired
  • 1-3 years ministry experience

Fundraising Responsibilities

As a Direct Affiliate you are given the opportunity to engage people in giving to the Ministry. These funds are used towards the expenses of your budget. It is the responsibility of every direct affiliate to maintain a positive account balance with YFC USA. Therefore following YFC USA's policies and procedures for donor development and fundraising is expected.

As a MSSI staff, your fundraising will support YFC ministry. Your fundraising responsibilities will include sharing this ministry opportunity with your personal circle of influence (COI) and with the local community of your current Military installation.
