Position Summary

The National Ministry Advancement Specialist serves a critical role in the advancement of the mission of YFC.  This position requires high levels of spiritual maturity, Godly relational leadership and biblical literacy. They must have a strong strategic mind, superior organizational leadership skills, the ability to work with and through other people as well as strong communication and management skills. 

 

The NMAS is the point person from the National Service Center responsible for developing the new Ministry Cohorts groups and providing coaching for the facilitators of those Cohorts. They are responsible for working with the Ministry Advancement Director, the Ministry Model National Specialists and the Leader Formation Department to develop a cohesive, cohort-based training model that impacts credentialed Ministry Site staff and Ministry Directors across our movement. This leader works in close relationship with these team members and other leaders from across the YFC USA movement to ensure highest quality investment Ministry Site staff and Ministry Directors in the areas of ministry training, spiritual formation, relational leadership.  

Essential Functions:

As the primary driver of the creation of the new Ministry Cohort/Affinity model, this person must understand what creates a healthy ministry site and ministry teams to develop a culture of continual growth and improvement. S/he will be the point person for the successful development, budget design, implementation, review and research of Ministry Cohort/Affinity model and its impact toward ministry advancement in the movement of YFC USA. 

 

Casting vision, designing strategy and mobilizing resources for Ministry Cohorts/Affinity groups (40%):

  • This role will cast vision, design strategy, develop change management and communication plans, mobilize people and manage resources to execute the Ministry Cohort/Affinity model. 
  • Communication & coordination across Ministry Advancement, Leader Formation and Chapter Advancement is essential. 
  • Listening well to voices from the field will be critical for the design process of Ministry Cohorts/Affinity groups.  

 

Implement and Manage the Ministry Cohort/Affinity Process (30%): 

  • Work collaboratively with Director of Leader Formation and Director of Ministry Advancement to design research process to measure the impact and areas needed for improvement of the New Leader Cohorts and the Ministry Cohort/Affinity groups. 
  • Recruits and supports appropriate Facilitators from the field to the Ministry Cohorts to ensure that there is excellent relational leadership of the Cohorts. The Facilitators coordinate the relevant teaching content and topics that are brought to their groups in line with the program design. 
  • Ensures Facilitators engagement, preparation, for virtual group meetings as well as the bi-annual face to face meetings. 
  • Serves as a Facilitator in a Ministry Cohort group as so to be a player/coach in the experience.  
  • Helps lead the cohort facilitators by developing support rhythms/staffing that supports the process. 

Departmental Support (20%): 

  • This role will serve as a senior role in the Ministry Advancement Department and may be called on to provide leadership or coaching to those in the department in their area of expertise. 
  • Departmental teamwork is needed to ensure the mission and the ministry models they represent are progressing in a culture of continual improvement in line with YFC’s core values. 
  • Coordination and collaboration with others in the department, and the NSC to accomplish divisional and movement priorities is essential.  

Divisional and Movement Leadership (10%): 

  • Field equipping through chapter visits. 
  • As part of the Mission Advancement Division, all YFC staff will engage appropriately in organizational problem solving, as well as the issues that arise at their department level. This includes being active and involved in Project Plans as approved by the Director of Ministry Advancement. This person ensures that a holistic solution-oriented approach to problems is managed in line with all YFC USA policies and practices by utilizing all NSC and movement resources as needed.

Spiritual Responsibilities:

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. 

 

As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to: 

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives. 
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC. 
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events. 
  • Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression.  

Additionally, YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.  

Fundraising Responsibilities:

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fundraising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.  

 

For Affiliate and Chapter Staff: YFC may attach a minimum fundraising goal to certain projects, activities, departments, or individuals.

Budget Responsibilities:

A Budget Manager is responsible to align all financial resources to the YFC/USA strategic plan in accordance with the delegation and direction of the Division Head. The Budget Manager is responsible for coding, approval and financial decision-making for their assigned Division, Department and/or Action Plan budget. When a budget is overfunded or underfunded, the Budget Manager is responsible to course correct though the MCCR process.

Credentials Required & Education:

  • 5+ years of excellent ministry experience 
  • Master's Level Degree in Ministry/Leadership or relevant field is preferred. 

Physical Requirements:

The ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges are essential for day-to-day conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents. Activities require the ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, occasionally move about inside the office to access files or office equipment, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, handheld devices, copy machine, and computer printer.   

No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force may be required. Good manual dexterity is required for the use of computers, mobile devices, and other production technologies. 

 

The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Extended periods of sitting and extensive work at a computer and phone are normal.
