Position Summary

The Marketing, Communications & Event Director is responsible for YFC Chicago's internal and external communication and event activities.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns and strategies to generate new donors and promote community awareness and audience growth through use of social media, newsletter mailings, and email communication
  • Support chapter events and fundraisers with necessary marketing materials.
  • Design and create weekly social media content to grow YFC's social media presence across a range of platforms
  • With Senior Leadership Team assistance, assemble an event calendar and create necessary marketing materials for chapter and regional events.
  • Maintain and update YFC Chicago's website and create additional marketing materials

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experienced with design software tools and strategies for digital and print campaigns
  • Experienced in creating engaging social media content
  • Track record of coordinating successful fundraise and friend-raise events
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Experienced in use of mass communication through letter and email campaigns

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Proven time-management skills
  • Experienced in making appropriate decisions to prioritize workload
  • Self-driven and able to simultaneously work on several initiatives with multiple people
  • Service oriented: dedicated to meeting the needs of many within a large chapter
  • High degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people
  • Proactive approach to workload and the ability to anticipate needs of staff and projects

Assets

  • Self-starter, highly motivated to take initiative
  • Social Media content experience
  • Excellent written communication skill and editing abilities
  • Ability to follow brand guidelines and keen eye for engaging creativity
  • Experience in filming videos to tell a story to evoke emotion for the viewer
  • Work with the Director of Development to create an annual ministry report to show Return on Investment of YFC's mission partner base

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

Position Requirements

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

  • BA or BS in Marketing or Communications
  • 2 - 4+ years of experience in an administrative, marketing and/or communication role

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
