Position Summary

Position Purpose

The Marketing and Events Director exists to grow the ministry of Siouxland YFC through marketing, fundraising events and communication outlets. Organizationally, the Marketing and Events Coordinator is responsible to create environments to grow SYFC’s network of church partners, volunteers, and financial partners. This is accomplished through:

  • Coordinating & executing fundraising and partner events
  • Producing communication strategies that tell YFC’s Story and share the Gospel 
  • Campaign execution for financial, prayer and volunteer needs
  • Producing high impact, on-going communications (including social media)
  • Communicating with and listening to staff for marketing needs
  • Generating potential financial partner and volunteer leads

Position Summary

1. Working with our Executive Leadership Team/XLT (Executive Director, Devlopment and Ministry Directors and Regional Directors) and our Community Leaders / Ministry Staff to create a consistent thread of communication to the community through:

  • Social Media and Website
  • Printed Material
  • Mailings
  • Events  
  • Email blasts

2. Organizing events, event follow up and faithful activity communications with partners 

3. Oversee the evaluation of metrics:

  • Key Performance Indicators (metrics) 
  • Social Media / Newsletter
  • Website
  • Google / Mailchimp

4. Working with our XLT, coordinating and managing an Annual Marketing / Communications Calendar for all of the above

Essential Functions

The Marketing & Events Coordinator is someone with strong organizational, creative and communication skills.

1. They will coordinate and host events, fundraising campaigns, ministry tours, social media, communication schedules, and develop and oversee the annual marketing and communications calendar for internal purposes.   

2. Event planning responsibilities include: coordinating regional See the Story, Be the Story, and Champions event cycles, and other community fundraising and appreciation events, church presentations (directly or coordinating speakers), college recruitment fairs (fairs, exhibits, booths), and other events or community events.

Event Planning Leadership: (40%)

  • Developing an event schedule & communicating deadlines with staff
  • Coordinating with staff to schedule date, time, location/venues
  • Developing marketing materials (save the dates, website, social media & e-blasts)
  • Distributing and maintaining the list of invites and RSVPs (website & Google)
  • Coordinating with venues and vendors to produce the event
  • Creating digital and printed materials needed for events
  • Rehearsing event program flow, schedule, etc.
  • Scheduling and communicating with speakers (kids, volunteers, staff, etc) 
  • Staging setup: tables, decorations, gifts and any other materials for the event
  • Over seeing post-event follow up communication with staff for attendees/invites

Multi-Channel Marketing / Communications: (40%)

  • Execute direct mail and electronic communications, including but not limited to: quarterly newsletters, stories, fundraising campaign letters, website and social media content
  • Be fully responsible for executing a consistent communications calendar across all of these media channels
  • Help maintain uniform style, voice of communications and brand image in collaboration with the YFC Verbal Branding and Communication standards
  • Gather social media and website analytics, to track, measure and report on the level of engagement and results from various communications campaigns, plans and events to be shared with the Executive Director and Ministry Teams at All-staff meetings
  • Work closely on all the above with the Executive Director & Communication Coordinator

Communication Coordinator: (20%)

  • Establishing, consistently reviewing, and communicating the events and communications calendar for all upcoming events and campaigns
  • Expected to connect with Executive Director and Regional Directors in other communities for marketing, event and communication needs for each area.
  • Access Salesforce information for donor communications, review contact information
  • Communicating with staff for quarterly faithful activity communications
  • Maintaining your new and assigned faithful partner connections
  • Relay partner information changes or additions to CRM Donor Base Manager

Support of the Siouxland YFC Strategic Plan:

  • Lead or contribute to the directive work as assigned
  • Abide to all deadlines and procedures
  • Complete routine tasks (task list documents, use of systems, performance, budget processes, etc.)

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

  • 4 Yr College degree (BA in Marketing, Communications) or projects or business or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum one-year event and marketing experience
  • A like minded individual willing to thoroughly know SYFC’s mission with experience in event planning, organization, communicating with others, networking, and working on a team

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of Siouxland YFC. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence / YFC assigned donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
