Position Summary

About the Role:

The Mason City Campus Life High School Director is a professional position that requires spiritual and organizational leadership skills, the ability to work with and through other people, communication skills, a heart for reaching young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the ability to minister to youth in evangelism and discipleship within the context of YFC methodology. They also need to demonstrate commitment to Youth for Christ Statement of Faith, as outlined in the Personnel Policy.

Campus Life ministry combines healthy relationships with creative programs to help young people make good choices, establish a solid foundation for life, and positively impact their schools. Campus Life directors work with local teachers, counselors, administrators, youth pastors and parents in hopes of developing positive support networks for young people.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct the YFC’s Relational Ministry Actions with a team of committed volunteers.
  • Recruit, train, and empower volunteer teams that will fulfill the mission of Youth for Christ with students (typically 11-19)
  • Form partnerships with other youth serving organizations, churches, schools and businesses to provide opportunities for students
  • Create a Community Support Team, that helps solicit the necessary community and financial support for the ministry. This position does require a portion of personal and community fund-raising

Guided by the Five Essentials and implementing Relational Ministry Actions, the High School Campus Life is accountable to the Ministry Director and Executive Director. The Five Essentials are targets of faithfulness to be practiced at each YFC ministry site so that the Spirit of God may favor the ministry with fruitfulness and sustainability.

  • Widespread Prayer – We deliberately engage lots of Christians to intercede on behalf of the ministry site.
  • Loving Relationships – We consistently pursue lost kids & engage them in life-long relationships with Jesus. (Seeker Focused/Whole-Person Focus Disciple-Making)
  • Faithful Bible Teaching – We accurately handle Biblical truth, regularly coaching kids to apply it in their lives. Competent preparation/Relevant presentation
  • Collaborative Community Strategy – We intentionally work together with local churches, agencies and other partners to provide sustainable youth and family ministry.
  • Adults Who Empower – We strategically develop leaders to reach young people from every people group.

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees will be given the opportunity to be involved in the Stewardship functions of GIYFC. These opportunities could include fundraising events, circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, and other opportunities as provided.

Spiritual Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
  • Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression. YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

As such, the following additional responsibilities of a spiritual nature will apply to this position:

  • Perform sacramental functions such as the taking of communion and leading times of corporate prayer, confession and praise.
  • Perform and lead religious ceremonies such as weddings, baptism and funerals when called upon by staff and other members of the YFC community.

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associate's Degree or High School Diploma
  • 2+ Years of Youth Ministry Experience Preferred
