Position Summary

Position Responsibilities

The Finance Director’s ministry is a serious responsibility requiring an analytical, detail-oriented, and accurate individual with strong communication skills. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in professional experience is required as well as experience leading staff, providing accounting and financial services, and general financial oversight. Experience with QuickBooks, Excel, and Word is a priority, as well as being knowledgeable in payroll filings and reports including minister taxation. As a job, it is highly demanding in its expectations and requirements. As spiritual work, it requires a healthy abiding relationship with Jesus Christ. In fulfilling the Finance Director’s role, there are key responsibilities that require regular attention and effort. The Executive Director holds the Finance Director accountable to accomplish all the work in these areas.

  • Prepares and reviews standard financial reports for / with the Executive Director and Board
  • Prepares and reviews any other financial reports requested by the Executive Director and Board
  • Completes all Chapter accounting (Reconciliations, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, etc.)
  • Processes payroll (completed via electronic transfers) and payroll taxes
  • Coordinates work with regulatory authorities, auditors, and accountants
  • Prepares an annual budget by working with the development staff to project revenue and the Executive Director to project expenses
  • Verify staff and Chapter compliance with all tax regulations
  • Communicate with the Executive Director regarding bank balances, staff support status, and trip stipends
  • Communicate with all accounting vendors
  • Coordinate investment portfolios and other financial benefits for staff members
  • Comply with monthly and annual National Service Center reporting
  • Complete Worker’s Compensation Reporting
  • Develop short- and long-term goals and objectives for areas of responsibility
  • Research, gather, and analyze data to resolve problems and propose alternatives to eliminate challenges
  • Work with the Executive Director to create, implement, and monitor new policies and procedures that will assist in achieving the Chapter’s mission
  • Lead yourself with a balanced approach to Faith, Family, Friends, and Community

Spiritual Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
  • Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression. YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
