Position Summary

Job description: the Director of Strategic Growth and Leadership Development will work closely with the Executive Director and the Senior Leadership Team to shape, develop and implement ministry alignment and strategic growth initiatives that have been determined by the Board. Also, this individual will be working with individual staff on personal growth and leadership development, along with working with staff teams on leadership growth and development.


  • Widespread Prayer: engage Christians to intercede on behalf of the ministry.
  • Loving Relationships: consistently pursue lost kids and engage them in a life-long relationship with the Lord.
  • Creative Bible Teaching: faithfully handle Biblical truth, regularly coaching youth to apply it in their lives.
  • Collaborative Community Strategy: work together with local churches, agencies and other partners to provide sustainable youth and family ministry. 
  • Adults Who Empower: strategically develop leaders to reach youth from every group.


Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
  • Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression.

YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

Position Requirements

Reporting Relationships: Answers directly to the Executive Director while working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Directors.


Primary Responsibilities:    

1.    Ministry Strategic Growth and Alignment:

A.   Work closely with the senior leadership team to develop a method/tool that clearly and effectively measures ministry effectiveness, excellence, and alignment with the overall mission and direction of the chapter.

B.   Evaluate each ministry site

C.   Work closely with each site director determining 1,2 and 3 year site goals and objectives based on evaluations.

2.    Individual Leadership Growth and Development Coaching

A.   Work with each individual site director on a personal growth and a leadership development plan.

B.   Provide continued coaching, brainstorming, and problem solving for staff.

3.    Develop A Comprehensive Compensation Plan

A.   Lead a comprehensive compensation study for the whole chapter by hiring a consultant to do initial study.

B.   Work closely with Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team on initial study and findings and develop and adopt a plan that works for the whole chapter.


Other Responsibilities

Provide special assistance to the Senior Pastor in over-all management of projects and personnel

1.    Provide assistance to Executive Director in overall management of projects and personnel.

2.    Provide assistance on identifying and hiring new staff

3.    Meet weekly with the senior leadership team

4.    Visit clubs periodically

5.    Attend staff meetings as much as possible and when appropriate.
