Job Title: Director of Operations and Finance

Reports To: Executive Director

FLSA Status: Exempt (Full-time)

Position Summary

The Director of Operations and Finance provides strategic leadership and oversight for the operational and financial health of Youth for Christ (YFC). This role ensures strong stewardship of resources, efficient organizational systems, and compliance with all applicable policies and regulations. The Director will serve as a key advisor to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, supporting YFC’s mission to reach young people with the hope of Christ by managing the behind-the-scenes operations that make ministry possible.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Stewardship

  • Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and monitor annual budget in collaboration with leadership and Board Finance Committee.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and applicable nonprofit regulations.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and vendors.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports to leadership, Board, and stakeholders.
  • Implement policies and systems to safeguard organizational assets and promote transparency.

Operations & Administration

  • Supervise administrative staff and ensure efficient office and operational systems.
  • Oversee HR functions including onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and employee records.
  • Ensure organizational policies and procedures are current, communicated, and consistently applied.
  • Lead efforts in risk management, insurance, and legal compliance.
  • Manage technology systems, facilities, and vendor contracts to support ministry effectiveness.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as a member of the leadership team, contributing to organizational vision and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders to ensure financial and operational support for program success.
  • Champion a culture of stewardship, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Train staff and volunteers in financial and operational best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field preferred, although work and life experiences can demonstrate competency and aptitude. 
  • Experience in business or nonprofit finance and operations and leadership is helpful.
  • Knowledge of (or ability to learn) nonprofit compliance, HR practices, and risk management.
  • Proficiency with financial software and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.                                        
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with day-to-day operational execution.
  • Personal alignment with Youth for Christ’s mission and Statement of Faith.

Work Environment

  • This position is primarily office-based with some flexibility for remote work as appropriate.
  • Occasional evening/weekend responsibilities for board meetings, events, or ministry support.
