Position Summary

Position Summary

The Marketing & Events Specialist will ensure the successful delivery of a portfolio of assigned events and marketing responsibilities within the Events and Marketing departments of YFC USA.

Essential Functions

Development Planning and Execution

 Oversee and execute LIYFC annual development plan (Find, Win, Keep, Lift) to resource the following areas:

  • Annual operating fund (Chapter and ministry sites)
  • Reserve funds
  • Assets Camp scholarships
  • Ministry expansion 

Personal Engagement

  • Develop, build, and manage a portfolio of ministry partner relationships
  • Meet individually with existing and prospective ministry partners
  • Provide personal follow up correspondence: thank you notes, phone calls, texts, email, etc.
  • Ensure that the appropriate care and appreciation is shown with ministry partners 


  • Develop and manage LIYFC’s comprehensive, chapter-wide communication schedule
  • Ensure the creation and provision of the necessary marketing and promotional materials to support its annual development efforts
  • Oversee and maintain branding standards for LIYFC
  • Manage external communications of LIYFC
  • Develop and maintain print materials to support external communications
  • Develop and maintain social media, web and electronic communications
  • Participate in the writing of letters, newsletters, and ongoing correspondence with ministry partners and ensure that appropriate communication is delivered in a timely manner
  • Present the mission and vision of LIYFC with groups (churches, service clubs, ministry partners, etc.)
  • Oversee the development of videos and other media resources to enhance the communication efforts of LIYFC
  • Learn about and actively facilitate a range of activities in order to promote planned giving as LIYFC grows.

Development Event Management

  • Coordinate the planning, execution, and follow up of LIYFC’s fundraising event strategy coordination with appropriate staff. This includes:
    • Regularly Scheduled “See the Story” Events (Point of entry)
    • “Be the Story” Ask Events
    • Follow-up with See the Story/Be the Story Guests
    • The Annual Be the story
    • The Annual Golf outing
    • Ministry Partner Appreciation Events
    • Any other development projects or events
  • Work with and through staff and volunteer teams to carry out the event strategy at a high standard of excellence

Administrative Support

  • Schedule appointments with existing and prospective ministry partners for Executive Director
  • Oversee the data entry of the customer management database with a special emphasis on maintaining accurate and up to date records, as well as extracting and analyzing data to assist with development efforts. 
  • Ensure that receipt acknowledgement, recognition, and follow up with ministry partners is done in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Coordinate the process for solicitation, procurement, and acknowledgement of ‘Gift-In-Kind’ donations.
  • Pursue grant funding from local, state, and national foundations, in partnership with the Executive Director and in coordination with appropriate staff.
  • Assist with maintaining current information on the YFC Website
  • Attend board or committee meetings when relevant to specific responsibilities

Staff Supervision/Support

  • Believe in the YFC strategies of See the story and missions-based fundraising
  • Receive ongoing development training from the national development teams
  • Assign development tasks to YFC Staff and provide follow-up, training, direction and oversite in their development efforts
  • Provide YFC Staff supervisors with progress report of staff development efforts
  • Recruit and manage a team of volunteers to help with specific development events and projects
  • Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Participate in regular supervisor appointments with Executive Director
  • Attend training opportunities and staff conferences when appropriate
  • Maintain current job descriptions for each development staff
  • Prepare for and participate in scheduled staff retreats
  • Help construct development budget and performance objectives annually
  • Submit strategic initiatives to help the development department grow in impact 
  • Support overall vision and mission of LIYFC

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

Position Requirements

Christian Faith Requirements:

  • Must be a Christian whose lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God.
  • Must be able to accept and support YFC’s Statement of Faith.
  • Must have an understanding of and a passionate commitment to the mission of YFC.
  • Must be an active member of a local church.
  • Must embrace the LIYFC biblical philosophy of development and stewardship


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
  • Ability to present oneself professionally.
  • Ability to follow-up and ensure that tasks are brought to completion in a superior manner.

  • Knowledge of computer word processing, spreadsheet, email, and data base applications. Current software usage includes: Word, Excel, Publisher, DonorPerfect, Canva, Outlook, Google Docs, Basecamp, and Constant Contact
  • Flexibility, adaptability, attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple tasks under deadlines are required.
  • Ability to establish positive, effective, and appropriate working relationships with a wide variety of individuals throughout the organization.

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

A college degree in the area of sales, marketing, business administration or other related fields is preferred. Prior experience in the area of development is strongly preferred. The learning curve for this position will require at least one full annual cycle.

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
