Position Summary

Working directly under the Executive Director, the Development Director assists in guiding the overall fund, partner and staff development strategy of Tacoma YFC. This person helps build the culture of biblical stewardship and directly supervises the Church Engagement Coordinator and Communications/Marketing Director.

Position Requirements

Essential Job Functions and Duties

Fund Development Strategy (70%)

  • Work in cooperation with the Executive Director and Development/Support teams to create and carry out an overall fund development strategy and implementing this strategy by working with all Tacoma YFC staff. This strategy will include some Major Gift Partner cultivation (see below), monthly gift partner cultivation (see below), and single partner engagement. The Development Director will take the lead in staff training on biblical stewardship and fund development. Project management skills are needed and will be utilized to cultivate data from Salesforce to help lead the Tacoma YFC team and Board of Directors to develop partnerships.
  • Major Gift Partners - Work with the Executive Director to create and implement a strategy for care of current Major Gift Partners (MGP). Coordination of annual events for MGP relationship building, as well as venues to introduce new MGP prospects to YFC ministry.
  • Monthly Giving Partners - Work with the Executive Director and TYFC staff in creating and implementing a plan to cultivate new monthly giving partners, communicate regularly with existing monthly gift partners, and work with the Communication and Marketing Director to develop new ways to tell our story to a broader audience.
  • Events - Ensure that Tacoma YFC fund development events are carried out with excellence and have a recruitment and follow up strategy to "win" new partners and "lift" current giving partners.

Staff Training/Management in Development (20%)

  • Work with the Executive Team (inclusive of Executive Director, Ministry Director, Operations Director, and Communication and Marking Director) to ensure smooth daily operations at Tacoma YFC.
  • Work with the Ministry Director to ensure Development practices are being maintained and adjusted as needed, tools, resources and training are provided, and accountability is in place to all staff.

Communication/Internal-External (10%)

  • Work with the Executive Director and Communications and Marketing Director in developing strategy and timeline for communication to existing giving partners and the general public.
  • Work with the Communications and Marketing Director to create an internal communications plan to help tell YFC's story to our staff, volunteers, and board members.
