Position Summary

Position Summary

The purpose of the Communications Specialist is to tell the story of Miami YFC in a compelling, frequent, and engaging way. S/he will create a library of well-cultivated, high quality images and content for social media, mailings, video presentations, and other publications of Miami YFC. S/he is instrumental in assuring we have the funding and manpower to reach kids with authentic, Christ-sharing relationships and the Gospel. The Communications Specialist is responsible for results and oversight of mailings, website content, and additional YFC public materials.

Essential Functions

Daily Duties

  • Spend a minimum of 15 minutes in devotion, prayer, and worship
  • Update Miami YFC website and social media with any relevant changes or information
  • Edit & catalog media for YFC publications, including (but not limited to) photos, video clips, background images, and logos.
  • Edit & approve special publications (such as brochures or flyers) for ministry staff.
  • Respond to social media activity for Executive Director and the Miami YFC accounts.

Weekly Duties

  • Send prayer and praise requests to prayer team
  • Turn in a time card to Supervisor
  • Complete photo and video assignments as determined by the Executive Leadership and Development teams
  • Schedule social media posts for the Executive Director and the public Miami YFC accounts (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram)
  • Send a summary of posts and content to staff each week for reposting purposes.

Monthly Duties

  • Attend Staff Meeting twice a month (one in person, one via phone)
  • Attend Supervisory meeting with Supervisor
  • Create a list of ministry and personal goals and turn into Supervisor
  • Complete any training needed
  • Represent YFC at events as needed
  • Turn in any Expenses to Operations Manager
  • Edit visual content of emails and mailings.
  • Create visual layouts for brochures and flyers for volunteers, events, and other YFC events/programs.
  • Make staff aware (through meetings or other means) of any new content they can use.
  • Collect stories from staff for social media, mailings, and the website.
  • Update the YFC website with relevant information, including blog posts

Quarterly/School Vacation Duties

  • Train/Meet with volunteers; participate in a minimum of 1 Youth for Christ volunteer orientations and trainings at the main office
  • Invite prayer supporters and volunteers to YFC prayer and praise
  • Participate in See the Story events for main office or other ministries
  • Work with Creative Media Director on video and media content for major events
  • Create specialized content for special events, e.g. Partner Events, Be the Story

Annual Duties

  • Complete Annual Review with Ministry Director
  • Participate in annual fundraising events; follow-up for these events and meet or exceed fundraising goals as set by Executive Director
  • Write Annual Goals and share with Supervisor
  • Complete Event Calendar
  • Write Budget and submit for approval to Accounts Manager

Spiritual Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.

YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

  • Minimum one-year of experience or educational equivalent preferred

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
