Position Summary

The Ministry Site Director is a position that requires spiritual and organizational leadership skills, the ability to work with and through other people, and strong communication skills. S/he must embrace and build a team that embodies YFC’s Cultural Attributes: Christ-centered, enduring humility, relentless trust, courageous faithfulness, joyful camaraderie, and kingdom inspired diversity. S/he will seek to implement relational ministry actions to develop Authentic Christ-Sharing Relationships with young people within the context of their YFC ministry model.

DESCRIPTION: The Director will provide the vision and leadership necessary to develop and oversee this life-changing City Life Center, its programming and volunteers for the purpose of developing Christ-sharing relationships between Christian adults and urban teens in the Eastside and Eastwood Neighborhoods. 

KEY VALUES: YFC ministry sites have 5 Essentials. Widespread Prayer, Loving Relationships, Faithful Bible Teaching, Collaborative Community Strategy and Adults Who Empower. The Director will see to it that these are woven throughout this ministry.  

KEY OBJECTIVES:

•Provide vision for the Eastside City Life Center

•Oversee Part-Time CLC Staff

•Coordinate exciting, safe, Christ-centered, weekly “Club Time” for urban teens

•Develop weekly programming and activities that are engaging, Christ-centered and provide opportunities for teens in the neighborhood to grow

•Develop Christ-sharing relationships through small groups, one-on-one appointments, trips and events 

•Recruit, screen, train and oversee volunteer ministry leaders who lead the programming and build Christ-sharing relationships

•Build effective collaboration in the community

•Manage the City Life budget for this site

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

•Excellent administrative abilities

•A “calling” to urban youth ministry and a passion for the mission of YFC

•Strong verbal and written communication skills

•High level of spiritual, relational and emotional maturity

•Experience with urban ministry

•Ability to lead a team and also work within a team

•Ability to lead and inspire both students and volunteers

•Motivated “self-starter”

•Creative problem solver

•Teachable and can receive input from supervisors and colleagues

•Willingness to do relationship-based fundraising 

•Willingness to do part of the 45hr ministry week in the afternoons and early evenings

COMPENSATION: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

FUNDING RESPONSIBILITIES

•Participate in Kalamazoo YFC fundraising events

•Write a monthly support letter

•Meet fundraising goals

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Three years of ministry experience

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
