Position Summary

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Executive Director (ED), the Chief Ministry Officer is responsible for leading the ministry functions of the organization in line with M-DYFC’s strategic goals. In this role, the primary focus will be to partner with and support the Executive Director by ensuring all activities are operating efficiently and effectively.

Essential Functions

Events/Trips

The Chief Ministry Officer will be responsible for the oversight of the ministry trips and retreats, including monitoring budgets, ensuring safety, and that the YFC mission remains the focus.

Administration

  • Oversee chapter ministry, as designated by the ED, and help develop ministry growth in communities throughout the Mason-Dixon YFC area.
  • In cooperation with the ED, oversee ministry operations by ensuring that all aspects run smoothly and efficiently. This will be done while supporting the organization’s goals and objectives, evaluating ministry department finances, approving all new projects, and approving all procedures.
  • Oversee some non-traditional ministries as agreed upon with the ED.
  • Work with the ED to develop the ministry department budgets, as well as work with the ED, Board of Directors, and Administrative staff in developing the annual budget.

Staff Development

  • Leads the process of recruiting, selecting, training, placing, and supervising staff to do the work of the ministry in various schools, neighborhoods, and communities throughout the MDYFC
  • service area.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all YFC employees follow all procedures and processes in order to become an employee, as well as maintaining employee status and position.
  • Uses the following guiding principles: YFC Statement of Faith, Employee Handbook, Safety Standards, Standards of Conduct: Living The Life of a Leader, YFC’s Standards and Best Practices
  • Utilizes industry research tools to identify giving partners that may be able to lift their involvement, when available and updates the CRM to include new insights and alerts the primary steward.
  • Responsible for the training and professional development of all staff and make sure every staff member is adhering to all YFC policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, training, credentialing, and participating in Regional and National conferences and events.

Fundraising

  • Work with the ED and the staff in the development and maintenance of a local funding base. The CMO is also expected to raise funds, the amount of which will be determined by the ED.
  • Be fully engaged and enlist the support of all ministry staff, whether paid or volunteer, in the designated fund-raising events throughout the year.
  • Prioritize attending and executing all of these events.

Community Relations

  • will serve as an advocate of youth evangelism in the community.
  • Will see that M-DYFC and its mission have visibility in the community
  • Will see that M-DYFC works in a cooperative manner with churches and other youth evangelism organizations.

Ministry Effectiveness

  • Will ensure that all aspects of the Mason-Dixon ministry will demonstrate the values and objectives of the YFC movement and ensure that we demonstrate quality with integrity that honors God and His Kingdom.
  • Will continue to stay committed to the Mission of M-DYFC.

YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts. 

Position Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

  • 10 years of direct youth ministry and ministry leadership experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and timeliness is a must. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strategic research skills, and analytic insight to make sense of reports that provide the ability to make decisions about gaps and strategic opportunities. 
  • A servant leader who is willing to pitch in where needed, including days in the office reviewing reports, running a staff meeting, or assisting with donor events on-site.
