Position Summary

To serve as the lead mobilizer for youth evangelism in a ministry site by developing others and effectively modeling the relational ministry actions.

ESSENTIALS

  • Widespread Prayer: engage Christians to intercede on behalf of the ministry.
  • Loving Relationships: consistently pursue lost kids and engage them in a life-long relationship with the Lord.
  • Creative Bible Teaching: faithfully handle Biblical truth, regularly coaching youth to apply it in their lives.
  • Collaborative Community Strategy: work together with local churches, agencies and other partners to provide sustainable youth and family ministry. 
  • Adults Who Empower: strategically develop leaders to reach youth from every group.

SPIRITUAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN ORDER OF PRIORITY:  

1.     Organize and direct Chicago City Life – The Bridge programming.

2.     Meet, inform and recruit students about programming opportunities at City Life

3.     Conduct regular student appointments to discover their story, share your story, and share God’s story.

Other duties that may be assigned:

1.     Lead or supervise follow-up Bible Studies with new Christians as appropriate.

2.     Develop and maintain a Community Support Team

3.     Participate in all area wide trips and special events, as appropriate.

4.     Support the Mission of City Life and Youth for Christ by raising required funds to support the mission

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:  

Individual should have a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.  Should be able to set work priorities and work independently in the absence of supervision and be able to understand and carryout oral and written directions. Must have the ability to maintain high degree of motivation to retain focus for our outreach to youth. 

The individual should have minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience, steady work record, and must be able to perform each of the essential position functions.

  • Ability to get around the community and office for various tasks.
  • The employee would normally lift or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lifts or moves up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to tolerate up and down movement with bending or stooping including reaching above and below shoulder height with arms and hands.
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time.

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
