Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to mobilize the community to develop personal relationships with lost teenagers that lead to life-changing encounters with Jesus, through which life-long followers of Christ are developed.

The Central Darke County Ministry Teams Leader will reach 11-19 year-olds through three to six ministry sites depending on the number of site leaders in place. The ministry director's first priority will be to build teams by recruiting, empowering, equipping, and encouraging volunteers to grow and minister. Secondarily, the CDC Ministry Teams Leader will participate directly in the ministry to teenagers alongside team members. The CDC Ministry Teams Leader will work alongside other ministry directors within the chapter and will report to the Executive Director.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build a strong support team of adults who advise, support, pray and advocate for the cause. 
  • Mobilize, develop, and empower ministry and task volunteers to serve in the various roles needed to provide quality activities and minister to teens.
  • Help Create program venues through which ministry will take place. These will vary, but include small and large group meetings, student leadership, special events, and opportunities for adult volunteers to meet new students and conduct building times and appointments.
  • Partner with people of likeminded ministries to better minister to teens.
  • Participate with other YFCMV staff in the planning and implementation of area-wide camps, retreats, activities and events.
  • Connect teens to the Church and to discipleship opportunities.
  • Conduct ministry personally with teens, working alongside volunteers and leading by example.
  • Share the message of YFC with members of the community, groups, and organizations.
  • Contribute to the fund-raising efforts of the organization through participation in projects, and discipling donors in a relational and missional model.
  • Collect and record accurate ministry records.
  • Meet credentialing requirements.

Spiritual Responsibilities:

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
  • Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression. YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.

Knowledge & Skills

The CDC Ministry Teams Leader must first possess a vital relationship with Christ that is evidenced by prayer, strong character, and a passion to reach the lost. He/she must have strong leadership and communication abilities in order to mobilize a variety of teams and individuals to reach lost teens. He/she must have a good understanding about teenagers and the culture in which they live. He/she must be able to effectively manage a variety of responsibilities and have the self-discipline to succeed in an independent working environment. Furthermore, he/she must demonstrate a humble and teachable spirit.

Credentials Required & Preferred Education

A bachelor's degree is required and previous professional ministry experience is preferred.

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, developing relationships between adults in the community and YFC, sending letters and handwritten notes, making personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.
