Position Summary

We are looking for an individual whose calling is in youth ministry, specifically with middle school students. The call is rooted in passion and desire to share the Gospel with EVERY middle school student. The individual will work to the best of their ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the roll. This ranges from, but not limited to, leading large groups, small groups, fundraising, developing intentional relationships, one on one appointments, being a champion of the local church, building community partners, event planning, and student leadership development. In a perfect world this individual would commit to this role for a minimum of three years. Summary/Objective

Work with the Executive Director and ministry leadership team to have a dynamic master plan of reaching young people through campus ministry.  

Essential Functions

Develop and carry out the vision to reach every young person on middle school campuses within the assigned county on a weekly basis.

Widespread Prayer - We deliberately engage lots of Christians to intercede on behalf of the ministry site. This value needs to strategically permeate all values, areas, and actions of your daily ministry. 

Loving Relationships - We consistently pursue lost kids & engage them in life-long relationships with

Jesus. Campus Life uses six Relational Ministry Actions as its specialized skill set to move

Loving Relationships forward: Contacting, Building Times, Appointments, Small Groups, Core Teams, Club.

Faithful Bible Teaching - We accurately handle Biblical truth, regularly coaching kids to apply it in their lives. Competent Preparation. Relevant Presentation.

Collaborative Community Strategy - We intentionally work together with local churches, agencies, and other partners to provide sustainable youth and family ministry.

Adults Who Empower - We strategically develop leaders to reach young people from every people

group. Campus Life staff build and lead teams of Christian adults (and students) who are committed to investing in the relational ministry process with lost teens.

Fundraising Responsibilities:

  • Raise 100% of base salary package in monthly support from a network.

Position Requirements

Preferred (NOT REQUIRED) Qualifications:

A. GENERAL CRITERIA

  1. Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university, or Bible school, or its equivalent.
  2. Be credentialed by Youth for Christ/USA, or be accepted into the Youth for Christ/USA credential candidate program.
  3. Have a minimum of three years of youth ministry/evangelism experience in the area of working with youth with a record of increasing effectiveness.

B. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  1. Possess these ministry skills: knowledge of how to lead someone to Christ, how to lead a small group and how to lead a large group, up-front speaking ability that will hold the attention of young people, ability to teach, ability to meet students wherever they are, ability to disciple and develop student leadership.
  2. Possess these people skills: mobilization of people to the ministry, leadership strengths, fundamental management skills, community relations ability, able to relate well to people of all ages.
  3. Possess these process skills: project planning and implementation, decision-making, problem-solving, follow-up of details, ability to ask people for help.
  4. Technical knowledge: solid general understanding of the Old Testament, New Testament, Christian theology, Christian ethics, Christian living, youth culture, youth work principles, youth social issues.

C. CHEMISTRY

  1. Possess a solid growing commitment to Jesus Christ and an evangelical faith that is consistent with YFC’s Statement of Faith.
  2. Have a sense of “missionary calling” to the ministry of youth evangelism.
  3. Be able to work with many churches in a non-denominational para-church setting
  4. Be comfortable working with EVERY student group.

D. COMPATIBILITY

  1. Be a self-starter and be able to get the job done under general direction rather than close supervision.
  2. Be able to operate in a flexible work situation that demands a typical workweek of 40-50 and that requires some evening and weekend ministry and overnight travel.
  3. Be able to conduct ministry within the structure of both a local and worldwide youth evangelism movement.
