Position Summary

Prairie River Camp reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement.

Primary duties of the Camp Director will consist of overseeing the ministry of programmed camps, coordinating and facilitating retreat and guest groups, and effectively overseeing the administration of the camp as a whole. Additional duties will consist of fund development, public relations, and staff development. This position will have oversight over other full and part time staff, summer staff and volunteers.

• Diligent in project completion and overseeing the same.

Essential
Job Functions and Duties

Programmed Camp Ministry:

Building partnerships with churches and other like-minded partners to reach young people.

Planning the theme, direction, and ministry focus of all programmed camps.
Recruiting and scheduling speakers, music leaders, volunteer teams and cabin leaders (counselors) for all programmed camps. Providing training for all camp staff and volunteers
Oversee the registration process and housing assignments for all programmed camps.
Recruiting and hiring summer staff personnel

Facilitating Guest Groups & Retreats:

Provide clear rental information through various outlets regarding Prairie
River Camp’s retreat and guest group options. Communicate in a prompt manner to all guest group inquires. Maintain a clear reservation process for all guest groups.
Set up, schedule and coordinate all housing, food service, and activity
facilitation for guest group retreats.
Handle all payments and deposits.
Serve as the on-site host for guest group retreats.
Administration:
Produce camp budgets for all programmed camps.
Oversee the ordering and delivery of all food, program, housekeeping, and miscellaneous supplies for camp.
Ensure that the legal, Youth For Christ organizational and fiscal
requirements are met through careful management.
Ensure that the camp complies with all state and local guidelines and
requirements.
Attend Christian Camp and Conference Association regional conferences and Youth For Christ regional conferences.
Work closely with the Support and Advisory Team to ensure the overall
ministry goals of the camp are being met and enable the committee members to fulfill their role as members.
Fund Development:
Work diligently to develop and maintain a funding base of personal supporters through a network of family and friends. The required amount will be determined by the Executive Director and the Board.
Work diligently to develop a local funding base through sharing the ministry with area churches, organizations, business and individuals.
Public Relations / Marketing:
Work to see that Prairie River Camp and its mission have visibility
through the following avenues:
Speaking at local churches
Speaking at civic organizations
Speaking at Youth For Christ chapters and local ministry sites
Continuing to improve and upkeep the direct mail marketing plan
Continuing to improve and upkeep the email marketing plan
Utilizing paid and free advertisement options in newspaper, radio and TV.
Staff Development:
Recruit and select paid staff.
Train, place and supervise the staff to do the work of the ministry.
Lead in ongoing staff meetings and training that will further strengthen the
group as a whole to pursue the mission of the organization.

Fundraising
Responsibilities

All Youth For Christ regular full time employees will be given the opportunity to be involved in the Stewardship functions of South Central Minnesota Youth For Christ (hereafter SCMYFC, or YFC.) These opportunities could include fund raising events, circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, and other opportunities as provided.

Responsibilities

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of SCMYFC is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of YFC be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel.

As an employee of YFC and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to:
See God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
Additionally, YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established YFC process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by SCMYFC. As such, the following additional responsibilities of a spiritual nature will apply to this position:
Perform sacramental functions such as the taking of communion and leading times of corporate prayer, confession and praise.
Perform and lead religious ceremonies such as weddings, baptism and funerals when called upon by staff and other members of the YFC community.
