Position Summary

General Purpose 

The Assistant Manager is the second in command. This person will be a leader to the crew and assist the needs of the manager including, opening and closing the food truck, acting as the person in charge when the manager is unavailable, driving the truck or utility van, along with the general food service role. 

Main Job Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities Serving customers 

  • Assist the manager with staff oversight 
  • Setting the food truck for service and breaking it down afterwards 
  • Completing supply runs 
  • Acting as manager when the general manager is away 
  • greet customers politely 
  • efficiently and accurately take customers' orders 
  • input and process orders 
  • address customer's questions and concerns 
  • assemble orders correctly to meet quality standards and hygiene requirements 
  • check food is served at correct temperature 
  • check the food portions are the correct size 
  • check food presentation is to standard and according to instructions 
  • serve food to the customer from the counter 
  • Complete other duties as assigned 

Taking payment for orders 

  • receive and process payments via cash or card 
  • operate cash registers and card machines 
  • count money in the cash drawer at start and end of each shift 
  • issue receipts 

Preparing and cooking food 

  • Keeping beverages stocked and cold prior to delivery to customers 
  • prepare or assist in preparation and cooking of hot food orders 

Maintenance and housekeeping 

  • replenish utensils, napkins, condiments as needed 
  • may perform inventory control 
  • cleaning utensils and equipment 
  • cleaning and washing food service areas, work areas and floors 
  • collect and dispose of trash and garbage according to regulations and standards

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as an employee in the movement of Youth for Christ be recognized as an associate minister of the Gospel. 

 

As an employee of Youth for Christ and an associate minister of the Gospel, YFC expects all employees to: 

  • Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives. 
  • Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC. 
  • Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events. 
  • Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression.  

Additionally, YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.  

Fundraising Responsibilities

All YFC employees are expected to regularly and actively participate in faithful activities that advance the stewardship functions of YFC/USA. These activities will include—but are not limited to— extending invitations to fund raising events, recruiting personal circle of influence/YFC donor contacts, sending letters, handwritten notes, personal calls, and personally ministering to donor contacts.

Budget Responsibilities

You will be responsible for assisting with the budget of Viking Chips, under the direction of the Viking Chips Manager. 

Credentials Required

  • no formal education requirements 
  • 1-2 years of food service experience 
  • People management is a plus 
  • knowledge of health, hygiene and safety regulations 
  • Knowledge of relevant food preparation and presentation methods and techniques 
  • Food handlers' card will be required 
  • Must be available for paid orientation and job training 
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record 
  • Must be able to pass a background check 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and able to stand for long periods of time 
  • able to lift and move up to 40 lbs. 
  • physical dexterity required to clean work and eating areas 
  • able to use cleaning equipment and supplies 

Travel Requirements

  • Travel around Kitsap and North Mason counties will be required on a regular basis. As well as some regional  trips throughout the year.
