Position Summary

Job Title: Accounting Associate

Supervisor: Finance Director

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

 

GOAL: To advance the mission and vision of Central Ohio Youth for Christ by assisting the Finance Director in day-to-day financial operations of COYFC, subsidiaries and affiliates.

KEY OBJECTIVES:

  • Assist in ongoing accounting functions as required
  • Support Finance Director with annual financial audits for COYFC, Gracehaven cost reporting and other financial compliance activities
  • Assist in generating monthly reports and financial analysis for the Management Team and Board of COYFC
  • Responsible to maintain accurate data entry across multiple databases
  • Responsible to fulfill bookkeeping duties as needed
  • Responsible to complete training under supervision of COYFC Finance Director

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Accounting & Finance

  • As needed, help with data entry into QuickBooks, and help with bank transactions
  • Learn outside systems like payroll and time-tracking systems as needed
  • Review, approve, and enter expense logs
  • Assist with both monthly and annual fiscal year end closing process as needed
  • Assists in seasonal activities such as annual audits, budgeting process, reporting to external entities as required
  • Assist Finance Director with processing payroll

 

Learn Internal Software and Systems

  • Learn proficiency in QuickBooks (QB) and other financial tools at COYFC as needed
  • Learn and implement guidelines for regular reporting to COYFC and Gracehaven
  • Understand and abide by compliance regulations from banks and other financial institutions
  • Learn and comply with internal controls, policies and procedures

  

General Duties

  • Support organizational projects with accounting related tasks as needed
  • Provide reports for different departments as requested.
  • Complete each task assigned in compliance with the organization’s accounting, HR and payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Carry out any task/responsibility assigned by the supervisor and/or Executive Director.
  • Assist in chapter-wide fundraising efforts by inviting minimum of 2 guests to See the Story tours and/or Be the Story annual luncheon event annually

Position Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field
  • Preferred knowledge and practical experience of HR/payroll policies and tax laws
  • Experience in QuickBooks is preferable
  • Administrative/organizational orientation and gifting
  • Strong time management and ability to solve problems
  • Experience and skill with computer software, particularly Microsoft Excel, databases, internet/email
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to diligently carry out routine tasks and additional projects as needed
  • Possess and maintain a personal burden for our mission
